I'm sick of this lobbying and if ever there was a true face of evil in the western world today, this would be it. It's the stuff of it. Here, perhaps? COLA wrote: man, those idiots, what will they say belongs to satan now? "AND GOD SMOTE JESUS TO THE FIREY PITS OF HELL FOR HIS OUTBURST AT THE CITY!" And here? Mr. Sparkle wrote: Okay. Christian groups officially hate everything. Soon, they will be bashing Jesus.
And maybe there? |

I don't think those comments were meant to be about all Christians, just these kind of Christian groups. |

You'd be surprised. At a forum I used to go to, a lot of the members felt that Christians such as me (and the vast majority of Christians) were a minority, and that most of us were bigoted, hateful jerks. Not true at all. The problem is, the most vocal members of any group are usually the most radical--and often the meanest. Take, for example, us vegetarians. Most of us don't hand out disturbing tracts to children whose mothers are wearing fur. The majority of us have a "live and let live" attitude about it--we refuse to eat meat for whatever reason, but we're not going to attack others for eating meat. The same goes for Christians. |

Man, I can't stand that phrase. I think it's one of the very few phrases in the English language that sounds like nails on chalkboard when I hear it. I mean, do people honestly think that people with a certain sexual preference are deliberately conspiring to destroy "family values" (that's another chalkboard phrase)? Well, I guess that's a silly question, considering that some people have said so explicitly. Geez. It's like they think that gay people just want to be gay at them. Or to put it another way, they're taking it personally when it has nothing to do with them. (Kind of a self-centered point of view when put that way, isn't it?) I remember I was listening to Bill Maher (I don't listen to political shows most of the time, although I do like Bill Maher; he just happened to be on TV when I was in the room), and his thoughts on the matter pretty much matched my own. He said that it's not about whether or not gay sex is morally wrong or not. It's just that most people experience revulsion of the idea of, um, two guys... in bed... y'know. Heck, not even I find it a pleasant thought and I'm bisexual. And he said he felt that way about it, too, that he thought it's disgusting -- but at the same time he understands that it's not a good idea to write his opinion into the law. Amen to that! But I digress. Ah, wait, this whole post has been a digression. I'm not good at staying on-topic today, apparently, but what else am I going to say? "lol barbie's not a trans"? Heh. Well, that's enough posts for today. G'night. - Kef |

Furrykef, 90% of neo cons posses no debating skills as they follow tradition rather than reason, and thus can't defend themselves. They resort to ad hominem and scare tactics to make their point, or copying the other person's argument and acting like they've got a stalemate. |

The problem is that human tendency is to believe something and then find reasons to justify it, rather than the other way around. (This is why science was invented, to combat this tendency, but science in practice has been far from free of this.) This same point can probably be brought up in virtually any thread of this forum, though. I am of course guilty of this myself. Everybody's guilty of it at least once, and most people, a great many times. Right now I think my political preferences are like that. I'm pretty much a liberal, and so I hear what others say about liberals and conservatives and I form opinions and I find it hard to truly justify those opinions. What I mean is I'm getting to the point where if I hear "Republican" or "conservative" I have an immediate "ick!" reflex, and I could probably provide all sorts of reasons, but I know they're just going to be the type of reasons I'd come up with to justify something I already believed. It's human nature. One reason I don't debate politics too often... 'cause I realized that to some extent, everybody is just some robot who repeats whatever he hears. Some are just more educated robots than others. Uh, yeah, I'm getting too rambly. I'm definitely going to bed this time. Yep. G'night. For real. - Kef |

Please tell they aren't serious about this. The Barbies are not supposed to have sexual organs. They are toys. It's not part of some grand homosexual agenda. Not to mention, I don't think a little girl is going to want to play dress-up with Malibu Stacy if she is anatomically correct. Further more, I wouldn't want my kid learning about that stuff until I feel they are ready. First off, I totally agree. And anyway, those halfway "I know know" type of answers are usually to give kids a bit of safety online so they don't have to answer if they don't want to. I wonder what these christian groups hope to gain by accusing everything on G-d's green earth of deviance. |
