hey you guys, once again i am in the quest for knowledge of the means of the occult and trying to understand why people think certain things are satanic or not.

Rock, RolePlaying, And KISS, are they satanic to you? if so, why?
what about anything else that has been burned in a bonfire next to Harry Potter books? what other things can you recall that are like theese things that people think is satanic? anyone?

EDIT: this thread is now about all things that some extreamists may think that is satanic. not only about rock, roleplaying and kiss, its about all things that are satanic or not, okay? gewd? gewd.

Okaayyy, I'm a tabletop roleplaying game fan, I *love* Metal Music (Currently I'm listenning some Children of Bodom) I read Harry Potter, and to make thing worse I play video game. So seriously do I looks like Satanic to you? That's what I though. Being Satanic assume rejecting all thing good, love, life, and mostly all Catholic dogma (Or any other Christian belief and or Church). I think the things said above are not against life or anything else.

Some Metal music might get some inspiration in Satanic belief, such as Craddle of Filth and many other I won't add (out of pure lazyness ). But in general I don't think metal music can badly influence people. This subject if touchy but know NOT all Metal band has Satanic influence and certainly NOT Mettalica. They are a mainstream, comercial ''metal'' band and has nothing to do with underground band. Who, in my oppinion, are true ''metal band''

Dungeon and Dragon, in the 80s was said to be satanic because you had the option to play a cleric and or Priest of a different dogma than christian, so some Catholic priest said D&D forced you to renounce god. Also *They* said D&D gave you instruction on how to cast black magic.
Yeah right, like I'll gonna cast magic missile for real I could dig up the internet link with all the crappy '' A christian playing D&D will be lead to evil'' if you want.

You have not listed it but hey video games get basshed all the time so here I go! NO video games does NOT make people violent. Prof? If you search a little you'll find that a report from the FBI shows that each years since the comming of the original Play Station, youth (14 and younger) crime has decrease significiantly. People complain that kid has acces to ''mature'' game too easily. yeahhhh riiiiight Some stores, (i.e Wall Mart) simply does not sale Mature games. While other store require you to give prof of your age before selling the said mature game. It's the parent who simply doesn't bother to read to labble on product, I mean if a game clearly says Mature, 17+ then maybe you shouldn't buy this for your 12 years old kid. People freak out when in games you see Violence and sex. Hey Just type '' Free sex '' in Google and voila! You'll have like ten time to level of sex found in video game. Violent video game? What about all those crappy violent movies about anybody can rent in a blockbuster?

KISS? KISS are scary not Satanic. Ughh Can't understand what people find in KISS other than pure madness and the crapiest costume. EVER

Rock and Roll? Yeah right, The Beatle All you need is love... Beatle are a rock and roll band you know?

Faces it, all this crap about Satanism is crappy and Girls who play video games are hot.

The Religious Right used to say that KISS stood for Knights In Satan's Service. They weren't the only band the did this to. AC/DC was "supposed" to mean "Anti-Christ/Devil's Child".

I heard somewhere that Rush stands for Rise Under Satan's Hand. I listen to a lot of their music, and it most certainly isn't Satanic.

I can understand why some people think that metal is Satanic. It is dark, mysterious, foreboding and sometime demonic. The only band that I can remember that was rumored to have engaged in Satanism was Led Zepplin.

NO, no, no ,no ,no,no,no,no!!! As BTG said in the seventies Southerners used to think KISS stood for Knights in satans service. This most likely happened because of Gene Simmons stage character (the demon). Rock is not Satanic, it just pumps you up and spreads messges of stickin' it to the man. So, of course religeous folks were like "Hey I dont like this how can we get sweet little billy to stop?" So they called it evil and hoped for the best. Unfortuanatly this just made Billy want to listen to Rock more (see "Detroit Rock City". It was a movie from '99 about 4 kids trying to go see a KISS concert. In it one of 'em tells those religeous types what the for reeal deal is). Harry Potter is actually accepted by the catholic religeon (and you know what us catholics can be like...) becasue it shows good triumphing over evil. As for D&D I dont care (HYPOCRITICAL'D).

In closeing saying any product of any kind is "for the devil" is just useless jabs at popular products that dont really agree with religeon. So...ya...

You know this reminds me of something I talked about with my roommate...

I asked her if she ever watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and she said her parents wouldn't let her watch those kind of shows. She went on to list X Files and some other Sci Fi shows as banned from the family TV set... yet when I jokingly remarked about how she always watches doctor shows like Nip Tuck, Grey's Anatomy, ER, vet shows on Animal Planet (or even court shows too... CSI and stuff)... she said her parents always let her watch them. "Always" meaning she's been watching those type of shows since gradeschool (I asked). This freaks me out, cuz most of the stuff they have on those shows is REALLY adult (or just nasty gory) material and there is no way that a kid should be watching that stuff IF the parents don't allow the viewing of sci fi shows.

If you are gonna ban one, ban them all. Don't take it out on the sci fi shows that heaven forbid actually EXPAND your imagination (a part of the human brain I believe was neglected terribly during the turn of the millenium when I was still in school... but I can't complain now because of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings... JK Rowling saved a generation of young imaginations). To me, seeing some lady on an operating table with half the skin on her face peeled aside, or some docter digging around in a dog's intestines, is just as damaging to a child as a bug eyed alien.

I don't like it when people mix up imagination with something evil. You notice that D&D is also heavily imagination based, and that's hit on a lot too. I have been playing D&D since I was old enough to roll a twenty sided dice (ok, I exaggerated, I was seven). It taught me skills like teamwork and mediation and problem solving... and (ugh) even math. How is that evil? (ok the math is evil, but everything else...)

That's my rant. It's a touchy topic... so I won't even GO into my video games... which reminds me...

While we're on the topic of "satanic" things, does anyone know why people used to think that Pokemon was satanic?

I think the only reason that was thought in the first place is because Jimmy Page used heaven in a lot of his songs (Stairway to Heaven, Houses of the Holy, ect.) and somebody mistook his meaning as "I'm writing about Heaven a lot because I'll never get there". Methinks it was a bible junkie who origionally concieved that thought.

About Harry Potter, My Uber-Catholic freind (Like, the kind that will hold a grudge against you for a week if you say "God" out of proper context) Wasent Allowed to read Harry Potter until like a year ago Because his parents apparently thought all the spells were based off old Druid rituals involveing the sacrficeing of Children and BLAH BLAH!

Pokemon Being called Satanic? Thats just madness. But Yu-Gi-Oh! I can understand. I mean...I love the art, I think it has some of the best card ive seen. But The church nearby banned them. I can see why. I mean...the gothic art style...Rituals...the many Creepy monsters...and in particular "Doma: Angel of Silence" which apparenly was waay to close to being a satan reference. My Freinds step dad (Not christen) gave him a deck of Yugioh and He !BURNED THEM! because his church told him they were evil. I was like "What the heck man? I wanted one of those!" and he told me I'd go to hell and etc...and I'm like "Good thing I'm not christen Eh?"

Druid rituals? Funny, all the spells I remember reading in HP were simple Latin phrases. And where do these come from? The Roman Catholic Church! Now isn't that hilarious? (in fact, the word Hocus Pocus is actually derived from Hoc Est Corpus, "This is my Body," from the blessed sacrament).

Terrible, terrible taste in music. She spends all of her time listening to Avril Lavigne and Hilary Duff, and sticks her noses in those stupid magazines and refeses to go into a book store unless there's a starbucks in it. ON the flip side, Harry Potter made millions of kids read books that are hundreds of pages long. Dungeons and Dragons teaches problem solving, patience, math, teamwork, ect. Everyone knows that music boosts creativityand intelligence, and much of the time even improves your mood (case in point, What a Wonderful World- Louis Armstrong). Pure goodness!!!
