The fact, here, is that all of you, with the exception of The Experimental Film, are in the wrong.

It's lame to take cheapshots at the President in a serious thread. There's a reason we have an R&P Humor thread. Take your old jokes there. I'd laugh at 'em.

It's even worse to lash out at someone for the above and trolling by way of name-calling just for lack of an actual rebuttal.

Nobody "wins the conversation". This time you're all losers. Except TEF. Sorry, guys.

Oh, and TOTPD. :eekdance:

Uhg, I hate it when people say "in the right/wrong", sounds so arrogant, self-righteous, and asinine...

Please, tell me you used it in the context of minority/majority, and not "morals"...

I used it in the context of "correct" and "incorrect".

As you may have observed, I don't touch the topic of morality with a ten-foot The Stick.

Still, couldn't you have just said "they are wrong"? And say what they are wrong of? I go into full blown tinfoil hat mode when I see people us "in the right/wrong" Image

I could have, but I didn't.

Really what I should have said is, "you're all being jerks," and left it at that.

It's not about winning. It's about understanding other people's points of view.

I'm not "picking on you." If you're going to make a comment, make it worth something; don't make it pointless drivel. I am a democrat, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with everything you say.

I hate political parties SO MUCH!! X-( Why do they even exist!?

That off my chest, the 2 political figures i would probably be closest to would be John McCain and Patrick Buchanan. I don't care much for the political compass quiz that much. I don't see why it can't just ask your views on certain issues. I've taken it several times in the past and my dot is all over the place.Well, at least in the 1st quadrant. :usa:

Wow. That's probably the most arrogant thing I've heard in my whole life. Like to share what motivates your beliefs? Are are you just an automation of what others have taught you, unable to form your own opinions or take on the opinions of others?

Um... evin... fighting over beliefs is something we try to avoid at the forum, particularly over politics. Might want to tone it down a bit.

Woah! My troll-meter is off the scale!

TEF, Evin has a very valid point. It's stupid and arrogant to go around and calling people "cool" or "not so cool" based on their political beliefs. You'd all get mad at me if I said "Christians(Losers)" and "Muslims(Cool!)" wouldn't you? It's a bland, generic, thing to do, ignoring the fact that you can WOW! Actually believe in things without having to toss a label on everything. Democrats can have republican views toward crime, am I right? Can a democrat not have a fiscal view aligned with that of a republican?

The real question is, why can't George W. Bush have a fiscal view aligned with that of Republicans? *rimshot*

Oh, did you think that I was making fun of him because he was a republican? No no no! I wouldn't do that. I was making fun of him because he blatantly attacked an entire political group based on (from what I can tell) no reason at all. If he'd like to attack a specific belief rather than a broad group, I'd tell him to go right ahead, as long as he has atleast SOME reasons to back up his ideas.

I'll tone it down when Napoleon Dynamite (great movie by the way) has something to actually contribute to the conversation.

No hard feelings, right TEF? :)

(oh, and since the message was brought to you by POSTERS, do you think I'm an evil slob? :-( )

I voted for the Google/skeletor party, what does that make me?

I think right now the party I agree most with is liberal.

Shh... Us liberal democraties are running the biggest conspiracy ever aginst him like that.

Well, besides that "global warming" crap we made up.

I'm kidding about global warming. Our best conspiracy was when we said we tried to kill the president with the oversized pretzel. We didnt succed.

I can tell (for the most part) that you're being semi-sarcastic, but without political affiliation, the united states would be far LESS "baby-lighting-on-fire-and-launching-them-from-catapults-ish"

I'm a libertarian (freedom for everyone/live and let live) or a green (environment + idealism... I'm an optimist). I voted for Badnarik, though.

The thing that confuses me is, why do people vote for third party candidates? Wouldn't it be more useful to vote for the democratic or republican candidate who represents your views more than the other. I mean, those two are the only ones who actually have a chance of becoming president, so why waste your vote?

Because you vote for something you believe in. You're making a statement.

Maybe if our "democracy" was more of one, 3rd party candidates would have a better chance of winning or even getting more than 10% of the vote.

That is true, but voters have to look at it realistically. If there's no way your candidate can win, why not vote for another candidate that kind of resembles what you believe that actually does have a chance of winning?

Like I said before, because you make a statement when you vote, whether it be democrat, republican, communist, socialist whatever. When you vote for a 3rd party candidate you show the other's guys CAN get votes. I mean, look at Ross Perot, he got 24% of the vote in the 1992 election, that's mind-blowing for a 3rd party candidate! Ralph Nader also did well during the 2000 election.
