Wow, that actually has made me kinda sad... Pluto was everyone's favorite planet, but now it's gone... :((

Screw this, Pluto will always be a planet in my mind.

You keep on fighting, Pluto! The heart of a champion...

How about spearheading the movement to stop calling Europe a continent? It really is just an oversized peninsula.

The asteroid belt is pretty sparse. Actually, it's not so much a "place where there are a lot of asteroids" as it is "a place where you're more likely to find asteroids than other place in the solar system."

...that is almost exactaly how my astronomy teacher explained it...I am so scared.

Don't be scared. Be happy that you have an astronomy teacher who actually knows something about astronomy.

Hmm. Well, I don't really care what the definition of a planet is, long as the word "planet" finally has a standard definition. Personally, I was in favor of the "3 new ones" definition, but all is well anyway. Now to one-up StrongRad.

Um.. somebody give me a well-known myth to contest.

Wow. The Snork posted somewhere outside of the Forum Games! Chalk up post number 16!

Anyway...

I'm in favor of adding planets, m'self.

My Very Educated Mother Could've Just Served Us Nine Pizzas - and Cake, Too!
(Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Ceres, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto and Charon, 2003 UB313)

Everybody likes Pizza and Cake.

(Maybe My Very Educated Mother, Carla... would sound better? Who knows...)

That's too bad. I always liked Pluto. And I wanted to see 2003 UB313 as a planet. Image

Pluto, you're still a planet in my eyes. You're just one of those misunderstood ones.

And I wonder why they don't rename Uranus to end the stupid joke(but not to what it was changed to in Futurama :P)

Something of an update.

2003 UB313, which you guys all liked to call Xena, now has an official name: Eris, the Greek god of discord, symbolizing the discord it caused over the astronomical community.

I'm not so sure about the name, I guess it sounds a little bit too much like the normal name Erin to me, but then I guess all the good names are taken. At least it makes sense.

It's moon (Gabrielle) is now named Dysnomia.

So now our dwarf planet list is "Ceres - Pluto - Eris"

Weird. Eris also sounds similar to Eros. isn't that the Greek god of love? And, in that case, would Eris be some sort of Mirrorverse version of Eros?

I also like the name "Dysnomia." It sounds like an evil, galaxy crushing civilization from a sci-fi novel. :)

Eros was the Greek God of love. The Mirror of Eros was Erida the Goddess of Hate.

For thse of you who don't know who Eros is. Eros is the Greek name of Cupid.

So, the name used to have "2003" in it. Everyone knows 0 means nothing, so that's really the same as "23". And now it's called "Eris". z0mg conspiracy! FNORD

One of these days I'll actually get around to reading Principa Discordia...
