Oh, and I call it soccer. :p

What about Argentina? I vote for USA, England, Argentina, Spain and Brazil!

Meh, my prediction was almost right...... a 2-1 win to Argentina. Riqeulma (spl?) was on excellent form tonight. Almost all his passes reached their intended destinations. He'll carry the team far.

That's my predictions. I think Germany will win, and England will get 3rd place.

You SERIOUSLY think England's gonna beat Brazil?!? It's freakin' BRAZIL!

TheGecko has a point. England couldn't manage to score a single goal against Portugal. Beating Brazil would be difficult if that's your skill level.

I'm an American. I don't care about soccer. :P

Okay, okay, chill. I know it's a big to-do for the rest of the world. It's like the Olympics plus the World Series plus the birth of your first child. Multiplied by X where X = Awesome.

I'll go with Brazil. Cause of Pele.

Dude...Pelé last played in 1977. He's 65 years old. :p

I missed out on this. Since I'm American, I guess I'm just gonna go woot for America. But Brazil or another country like them are still gonna win.

How do you get the table? I can't find it.

EDIT: Oh, and I found This. Everyone thinks Australia has no chance....Not everyone agrees.

See, this video makes me want to replace History with BTG.

Stuff History. Go Socceroos.

We will see. Your match takes place three hours before the US plays the Czech Republic.

It's pretty dumb actually. Over here, everyone seems to be like "Yay! They won their first match! They're gonna win!" I mean... wasn't it an own goal anyway? So technically, they didn't score at all.. Bleh.

They're definitely not going to beat Brazil, not unless Brazil feel like own-goaling that day.

Edit: Well, I'm confused. Some say England *did* score, others said it was an own goal... I didn't watch it myself so can anyone tell me what actually happened? :P

No - England played against Paraguay, and won 1-0. But yeah, it looks like it was an own goal that helped them win. They've had a shaky start, because one of their top players, Wayne Rooney, had to sit that match out due to injury. But definately they shouldn't be dismissed yet - they've a very strong team this year.

Brazil is going to beat England rather than England beat Brazil.

Weeelll....... we'll see about that. But England has a very strong team this year: Paul Robinson, Rio Ferdinand, David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, Sol Campbell - they're all world-class players. I think they'll start to show their true form when Rooney shakes off his injury.

Anyway, I'll be watching the Italy v Ghana match tonight. Mostly, I want to see if Italy's current team are as bad as everyone says they are.

And with any luck, Australia will pull off their first victory today as well today.

The USA-Czech Republic game SUCKED! 3-0 Czechs. They cheated, & the ref made some bad calls. All we need is to win our other 2 matches for a chance at the top 2.

That was the easy match, your next two opponents aren't going to be that easy to defeat.

Yay for Oz! At the beginning, I thought Japan was going to overtake you, but yay, you fought back.

Croatia? Pfft! They're just as good as Japan. We'll have a red hot go at them all!

Although I just realised that if we get second, we play the 1st placed team in the group of USA, Italy, Czech, and Ghana.

My bad; I was reading my friend Dallin's weird rants. ;)

But reading the summary of the game on Yahoo, it sounds like our team just wasn't aggressive enough. *sigh* We'll just really have to step it up against Italy & Ghana.

Arg. The World Cup makes me mad. On Friday we (myself, the Botfriend and a friend of ours) drove down to Kingston (about a 6 1/2 hour drive) for a wedding. We had to leave here at 5AM because our friend wanted to watch the first game at noon. We didn't even have anywhere to go until 9PM. Soccer makes people crazy!!

I will say two things about this topic.

1) I'm in the US, so I call it soccer.
2) I can't stand soccer. The fact that people pay thousands of dollars for the great thrilling scores of 1-0. No thanks, not for me.

France & Switzerland tied at zero apiece today. It was still a great game, full of close calls on both sides.

Don't let Croatia fool you. Those teams from the Balkans are pretty good. Croatia finished third in 1998, so they are pretty good.
