Firefox used to be the thing that made people able to say, "I dont follow the man I play by my own Internet rules! Firefox is faster, cooler looking, and it is beter! IM not afraid to change!" ...er, you know Linux has been around for almost ten years, is not the internet, and has nothing to do with Firefox besides being open-source? (?)

a personal favorite of mine is the search page function. not that it has it, but i like the way it searches for the letter as soon as you press the key, so you know that it's not there after a couple of letters, or you find it after a couple of letters.

oh, yeah! when it blocks popups, it says so at the top of the screen, so you can open it if you want to. with the toolbars that you *ahem* have to get for IE to block popups, they usually don't even say that it blocked a popup.

Sorry, it's just I haven't encountered these features in Firefox. Is this an extension?

Ohhhh, you mean that. I thought you meant the actual search bar. Whoops!

Yeah, that IS a cool feature. I use it to find some GameGenie cheats when I'm playing Mario.

After years of using vi, Firefox has the absolute most natural search in the world. You don't have to press Ctrl-F, you can just press the '/' key and start searching.

I'm excited that in FF2, it will search within textboxes.

Holy crap, really? I've been wanting this feature forever!

On a related note, I'm currently using Minimo, the Mozilla browser for Windows Mobile/CE, and it's SO much better than the Internet Exploder that comes with it.

I don't hit Ctrl-F when I do searches, I just type.
There's that option in Firefox 1.5.0.6

In firefox, when I go to sign in at this forum, it doesn't and stays at the same page, even though it says it has loaded. When I unclick the automatically log me in thing, it does the same thing, but takes longer. Any suggestions?

Hmm....try clearing your cookies and cache. That's usually the solution to a lot of FF problems.

Noticed this and thought I would share it.

Share Firefox with a friend. If your friend downloads Firefox before September 15,
you’ll both be immortalized in Firefox 2.

Ok, sorry for the large bump, but I have a firefox question.

When it saves form information, like a subject box, how do I get rid of it without getting rid of everything else saved?
Like if I spell my email address wrong in one, and it comes up every single time before the right one, how can I delete it without getting rid of the stuff I want?

It doesn't appear to me that there is a straightforward way to do that. If only they had a "View Saved Form Data" button like they do for passwords. I'll search around and come back if I find anything good though.

EDIT: Looks there used to be a "View Saved Form Data" button in Sept 2001. I wonder if it can be brought back through about:config or something.

EDIT: formhistory.dat is in your profile. I'm not sure what the format is, as I haven't ever turned on saving Form Data, so it doesn't show up for me.

formhistory.dat can be converted to xml using the dumpAutoComplete tool at http://www.foundstone.com/resources/freetools.htm. I'm still figuring out how to go back though. Perhaps a comparison of the xml output with the dat will allow you to figure out what needs to be deleted in the original.

LAST EDIT: I'm now reading that you can highlight the entry in the autocomplete list and hit Shift-Delete and it will remove it from the list.

Check http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla ... /releases/ for the latest release candidate (which at this point is RC3). There may or may not be an RC4 before it goes RTM.

Latest rumor is that Firefox 2.0 will go RTM next Tuesday. Cannot confirm at this time.

You mean like Ctrl+Tab? The same shortcut key as that's used to switch tabs in almost any program that has tabs?

I caved in and downloaded firefox. [s]But I have a problem. Firefox seems inable to log me into the forum. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?[/s]

Edit: I got it to work!Image I just clicked on the log-in button instead of using the log in bar at the bottom of the page. No clue why that worked but it did!
