Dear teacher,

What I wrote above was not written to embarrass you. It was to point out that you are not doing your job correctly and you should fix it. Now, I know what you might be thinking: "Who is this kid, and why does he think he can tell me how to do my job?" But I must say that first, I am not a kid, and second, I think I can because I am pretty sure that, as I have described above, your behavior has no place in your job description.

This attitude also makes for a very poor role model. What message does "I never make mistakes" send to students? Do you want them to behave that way when they're older? I know you wouldn't tolerate that attitude from your students, even if they have never made a mistake in your class!

A correction does not deserve a reprimand or even mere indifference. It deserves praise! A correction shows initiative on the part of your student! It shows a desire to do things right, to get the facts straight, and most importantly, to learn. Remember, learning is not about you; it's a process that you're just there to help with. A bunch of students who simply sit there listening boredly and accepting everything you say might be a bit easier to teach than a group of students who intellectually challenge you, but which group of students shows a better capacity to learn and to do things right?

Ughhh. Words cannot describe how that attitude disgusts me. A teacher's job is to teach, and to teach correctly, and to teach facts. Not their own "facts", real facts. If they have made an error -- and everybody makes mistakes, even teachers -- then it is their job to amend it.

Wow. All I can say to that it ignorance and close mindedness. I don't see how anyone can punish someone in a free country for their political beliefs.
