Anything at my school gets you a Saturday D-Hall. Usually 1-2 hours though.

At my High School the discipline system worked like this:

Low ranking offenses like swearing or being out of uniform was a detention.

Frequent minor violations became a Saturday Detention.

Higher ranking offenses like punching someone got you either and In-school Suspension or an Out of school suspension.

Fighting was a definite OSS.

The only things that got you expelled were bringing firearms, fireworks(you could get arrested for both of those) or desecrating religious objects(you would get arrested and sent to Hell).

In my 4 years of HS, I got everything but a Saturday Detention and expulsion(came close in Jr High).

In my Jr. High. ISS was a room with white washed cinder block walls with no windows.

Aww, Saturday detentions aren't so bad if you're paired up with representatives of every social clique in the school and a tight butt assistant principal portrayed by the police deputy chief guy from Die Hard and you guys get in tons of shenanigans.

Yes. We had to memorize them by heart. Everytime that we get one step closer to detention we have to take a piece of paper, write that all down, write what we did, why we did it, who we can fix the problem and write down the next step of punishment.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but there are stories on the channel seven news mentioning people around second grade being suspended from school for drawing a gun.

As in producing a gun or actually sketching one on paper?

How detailed of a gun? Is a sideways L-shape technically considered a gun? If a kid draws a stick figure holding two sideways L-shapes, how do you know he's drawn a shooter? The stick figure could be dowsing.

I can understand a policy regarding actual weapons and/or threats to use weapons, but DRAWINGS?? PLAYING COPS AND ROBBERS?? COME THE CRAP ON, PEOPLE!! Why don't you just go ahead and castrate the poor guys while you're at it?

1. Dosen't Really matter i know it's a long name but hey, a lot of people can't remember my real name so i just let them call me "lime", my name backwards. 2. If it is able to harm a large portion of someone, like thier whole face or even a bigger amount of body, it is deemed large. If it can only harm the amount of body as an ear or less, it is small. Also, to answer clever-dan's question, Quote: Whoa, whoa, whoa!!! Breathing on people???!!!!????? Yes. We once had a problem with a 3rd grader that was stalking a 5th grade girl and following her EVERYWHERE and standing way to close to her and breathing on her. So now, even if you stand in line in back of someone and you sigh or yawn, you get detention! Also, we get in trouble for RUNNING ON THE BASKETBALL COURT. How stupid is that? It's the b-ball court! You have to run or else you lose the game!

My school doesn't do OSS, because if they are in ISS, they aren't absent, therefore more money for the school.

exactly, here is an example ISS You get physically removed from class and forcibly put into the "Badman room." thats the "politically correct" and family friendly way to describe the Room of Doom. You are completely detached from all school socialization and civilization OSS You willingly come in from home and just sit somewhere with a couple other people.

thats pretty much like ours, except we have multiple ones for different people and you can only pace back and forth. Maximum 2 people per Cell.

A lot of the stuff is just because its so small and they cant afford other things... This isnt the school's fault at all, but the dumbest thing is that I'm being held back because I dont have enough credits. I was homeschooled and came into the school on my 2nd semester of my sophomore year. Yeah, so I start then with NO credits. I had to test out of some classes, etc...

To keep the lingo consistent with In School Suspension (ISS), my middle school wanted to rename detention After School Suspension. Unfortunately, someone pointed out the problem with that plan before it went through. When I was in middle school, you could get detention for showing up late ("NO EXCEPTIONS", is what they'd say). One day, I rode the bus to school. It was late (10 minutes or so). Everyone on the bus got detention (except for the lucky few whose teachers weren't functionally retarded, and I wasn't one of those). We used the "that's not fair" argument, but too many people in that age range use it for everything, so we just got the preprogrammed "life's not fair" response. The thing I hated most was that certain students were allowed to come in late with no penalty. Apparently, kids whose parents had some sort of influence (real or perceived) didn't have to follow the rules. See why I almost quit school back then?

Detentions at my school don't really happen. There is like, one teacher who keeps kids in after school for half an hour if they haven't done their homework. And we might stay in class for like, ten minutes during lunch if we've done something wrong, but that's pretty much it. Yay for Australia.

That's genius. My school is actually doing something smart: Instead of giving you an ISS for being late ten times they make you show up at 8:15 and hang out in the office for 20 minutes. Which is great because you don't miss important classes and stuff.

And I believe they were outlines of sideways L-shapes.

Since there are people standing on the gun, we have no choice but to take this as a doomsday weapon capable of destroying a large city if not a small country. This kid needs to be exiled to the moon.
