Here's another one that came to mind. What's the second song on the second Dial-A-Song disc? I can NOT think of the title, but the intro is so twistingly writen that it took me forever to realize what it meant.

I could probably sit here all day listening to TMBG and saying "Oh, yeah, this line is great," but then I'd never get any work done. I have quite a few: "The yellow Roosevelt Avenue leaf overturned"--from "Cowtown". If you don't get it, try saying it out loud. "I love the world, and if I have to sue for custody, then I will sue for custody"--from "Stand On Your Own Head". Just plain clever. "Speak softly, drive a Sherman tank/Laugh hard, it's a long way to the bank"--from "Rhythm Section Want Ad", which is just chock-full of great lyrics. "Lad looks at other gals/Gal thinks Jim Beam is handsomer than Lad/He isn't bad"--from "They'll Need A Crane". (For those who don't know, Jim Beam is a type of liquor...) "When you're following an angel, does it mean you have to throw your body off a building?/Somewhere they're meeting on a pinhead, calling you an angel, calling you the nicest things"--from "She's An Angel". I just like this one. "So the stream of people gets wider/Then it becomes a river/River becomes an ocean/Carrying ships that bear women and men"--from "Women And Men". Just try wrapping your mind around it.

He let the contents of the bottle Do the thinkin', He'd shake the Devil's hand And say, 'You're only kidding!'" -From "Your Racist Friend" I have another line that I really like, too, from an older song of theirs, but I don't think it's entirely appropriate for this forum. No bad words, but it's quite suggestive... risque, I guess you'd say. And I really like this bit from what may be my favorite TMBG song of all time: "I want another first kiss like this." Everyone's already posted the Jim Beam quote, so I'll just say that in terms of cleverness, that's definitely up there among the greatest of all song lines. There may be one better, but I can't honestly think of it right now.
