I just went to Homestarrules.com and registered at their forum. IT'S HUGE!
They have over 4000 members, and their top poster has 8000 POSTS!

Holy crap indeed!

Must have been around since HR first started out, or very close to it.

It looks like their board was started in August of 2003. I bet one of the reasons that they have so many members is because some of their forums require registration to read.

I'm one one forum with about 93,000 total posts. Over 13,000 are from one guy. He was the first member and has been posting since December 2003. And he's started like 8 threads in the time I've been there (since last august).

Have you ever been to the GameSpot forum? Top user has like 100,000 posts I'm guessing. 30,000 is a pretty common number. Here's how I describe that place:

You post a topic.
By the time you hit refresh, four people have already answered.
If you go back to the main page, there is already a new topic in the "new topic place."
You browse around for a while, and then come back.
Your topic is on page 13.

Looking at massive forums makes me realize how Shaon feels.

That's very true. I'm on there, and I can't keep up with all the post. That's why I stick here.

I just registered at the PSM forums, and when I refresh a page there's like 5 new posts is one forum.

Shaon left this forum because she felt it was too big.

I like this one this way. Not too huge, not too tiny.

This forum is not big at all. Neither is Homestarrules. (But then again, I hang around in places like the Bob and George forum.) The number of members doesn't really tell you the size of the forum's community, because the majority of members there (and here) have less than 10 posts. As for users having 8000 posts, well, they are older than us, and the user in question has been active there since day 1.
