I have a subscription to PSM currently, how 'bout everybody else? What Video Game Magazines do you have?

I usually read EGM.

I used to read GMR and Xbox Nation, until those both got cancelled. Oh well...they were both just offshoots of EGM anyway.

I picked up a copy of the Official Playstation Magazine the other day...Ugh. It sucked. The reviews sucked. The ratings sucked. The articles sucked.

And I like PS...I'm gonna get a PSP in the next few months...whenever they're in stock constantly like the DS.

Also, Official Xbox Magazine has gone way downhill since its conception.

I remember the days when video game magazines were usually much thicker than they are now.

Video games are so much more sophisticated nowadays...how come we can't fill more than 120 pages with information about 'em?

Ugh. Even Nintendo Power was usually over 200 pages.

I agree maybe you should try PSM, it's somewhat inappropriate and gory.

I had Nintendo Power back in the day... Also, my neighbor and I got EGM and another magazine whose name I cannot remember right now. We both stopped getting them about 10 years or so ago.

Game Informer is horribly innaccurate. For example, it said there would be a FFVII movie. Yeah. Capitalist lies. It's also horribly condecending, as if we can't understand "This is a FPS. It is good."

a simple google search proves that there is in fact a FFVII move (in japan now)

I'm all for PSM over here. I feel that I've grown with that crack squad of video game journalists, to the loss of the dear Tokoya a long time ago to the gaining of our good friend Kaiser Hwang. Yes we've been through many changes and I feel it has brought us very close.

Yeah, EGM is usually good with their facts, and have a lot of interesting articles.

I *hate* Game Informer, mostly because everybody has it. I don't like doing what everyone else is.

I rather like GamePro.

I know, I like Gamepro too. They seem like The only honest magzine out lately. Only Gamepro has the courage to insult Halo2 (rightfully so)

Gamepro's circulation is over 2 million. And GamePro is full of BS, especially reviews. The PC section is a joke, as is the "Role-player's Realm". Maybe I'm just bitter, but I don't read any gaming magazine's, though I'm an avid PC gamer. I usually just lounge around in forums and get actual gamer's opinions, and not some "proffessional" reviewer's who owes his life to the advertisers.

And BS stands for?

I personally don't read them for reviews, just for more in-depth previews.

I remember when Electronic Gaming Monthly was trying to branch out and created another magazine called EGM2. It was pretty much the same magazine...but on different pages.

Yeah, that didn't last long.

Do videogame magazines have an obligation to just say nice things about games they're previewing? Because it seems like every preview I read makes the game sound like the prodigy of its genre and it always "looks promising".

Sounds like a good idea. Which reminds me, I occasionally pick up an issue of PC Gamer if it looks interesting or could be valuable (such as the Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 issues).

I don't subscribe, but I read EGM a lot. It's usually got all the info I'm looking for, plus some random humour thrown in at no extra charge. Game Pro I have found to be horribly inaccurate sometimes, and Game Informer isn't common at all up here, but I look at it every chance I get.
