Did you know that Alice in Wonderland was origionally a spoof on english society? The mad hatter represented the people who made top hats, they dipped fur in Mercury and after a while the mercury gas drove them insane! And the caterpillar was smoking Opium! That is why he said the thing bout the mushroom, he was hallucinating! And the quenn of hearts represented how every whim of the royalty no matter how horrible was always granted. I found this very interesting! What are your thoughts on the subject? |

That is pretty interesting. I never knew that. I always thought that it was just some crazy-random story. I did know the Hatter thing though. |

I found it really cool, but the disney version dosnt seem to cover these things, i wish they did, they prolly didnt because they wanted an adult book to become a childrens movie... |

I don't think "spoof" is the right word. It's definitely social commentary, though. |
