Can we not reccomend things here, too? Well, I'm going to. Don't buy Action Action's "Don't Cut Your Fabric to This Year's Fashion." Big waste of 13 bucks. I mean, they would be cool, if they got someone else to write for them, and maybe, took some publicity shots every now and then. And, you know, had song titles that had something to do with the song. Buy Franz Ferdinand instead.

I recommend you listen to my compositions at ACIDplanet! (I know....shameless plug....)

The sound quality isn't the best, because I recorded it with my Finale software. So use your imagination and picture a full orchestra playing it at Abbey Road, lol.

Here it is:

Some fellow Foo fans - nice.

Well done Made, 'bout time the Pumpkins got mentioned.

Any Hip fans kicking around here? Their older stuff is many goods; it was all down hill after Phantom Power.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Nickelback, Pink Floydd or System of a Down Yet. So I guess I will.

I may get kicked out of the country for saying this, but I never really liked them. I like hockey, though, so I'm still Canadian! (If I wanted water, I'd ask for water! ... No thanks!)

So far as music goes, I'm big on the Weakerthans right now. They're just pure good. And I've been listening to Weezer's "Pinkerton" nonstop for a week. I love El Scorcho...
Now, I haven't heard that much of the Lawrence Arms, but they're great. And Alkaline Trio is also fantastic - but beware of some profanity if you're gonna give them a listen.

I'd reccommend three things:

    Song 2 by Blur-
Classic song. Wooohoooo! (listen to the song and you'll get why I said that)

    Freakin' Out by Graham Coxon-
Graham Coxon (ex Blur member) rocks in this song. If you have iTunes, you can watch the music video for it and hear the whole song.

Finding Out True Love is Blind by Louis XIV-
A great song that you can also see the music video of on iTunes.

Try Franz Ferdinand, or the Killers. Two very good British Rock bands.

Weezer, Nirvana, Foo Fighters are all good bands to listen to. If you're interested into more hardcore rock, try CKY or Ramstein.

Totally.

Also, if you don't hate the sound of classical, try Apocalyptica. They did a Metallica album completely in cellos, and holy crap, Enter Sandman sounds great blasting with four cellos.

Just so you know, classical music isn't defined as "anything done by a string quartet, orchestra, or anything 'olde'." Switching out an electric guitar for a viola doesn't make it classical, or classical-ish. Apocalyptica isn't any more classical than the Charlie Daniels Band or Rasputina are.

Anyway, John McMillen has done a whole series of string quartet tributes to various popular contemporary artists, including Tool, Maralyn Manson, and Moby. Definitely worth checking out.

Yeah, yeah, Pinkerton by Weezer was an underrated classic. Nerd rock goes adult.

Some new things I have been listening to:

Graham Coxon from Blur (yeah T Smash)
Curtis Mayfield: Curtis (groovy 70's r and b)
Ester Drang, a shoegazer Christian band who really rocks
Royal Trux (indie rock)
Giant Sand, chore of enchantment (straight up rock)
The Silver Jews, b sides and rare (friends of Pavement, my fave)
Burning Spear, best of (reggae to kick you around the room)

Oh and Bjork. Always Bjork.

Metallica did that too when the worked with the San Fransico Symphany orchestra.

Don't even get me started on them, their last two singles of their new (not out yet) album that I've heard on the radio sucked.

Bewhere of BYOB and Cigero as they suck horribly.

OK, for all the people who like men's choirs, I have a good recommendation (if you don't like men's choirs, ignore my post and laugh at me).

I've been listening to the Yale Alley Cats alot recently. Possibly because I just put them on my iPod, but still, they are awesome. I've probably listened through one of their albums thirty times in a couple week.

I have just discovered Oysterhead. A wonderful album recorded about 4 years ago by Trey Anastasio (Phish) - Les Claypool (Primus) - Stewart Copeland (the Police). I just noticed that all 3 bands start with the letter "P". I wonder what that means? Is it a grand conspiricy that will cause one's of people to rush to the bathroom? What would Fox Mulder say? Maybe I just need some sleep.

Three days Grace is so-so. But the rest are great.

Oh, yuck. Someone mentioned CKY. When I went to see Axl Rose and his new band of Not-Slash-or-Duff-or-anyone-else-cool a few years ago, CKY opened and they sucked big time. Seeing Queens of the Stone Age was pretty cool, though.

I just picked up Matchbook Romance's "Stories and Alibis" and it's super-great. Also, to Weezer fans: check out Ozma if you haven't already. They're like Weezer with the nerdity turned up to 11.

Yeah, that was me. Thet're not for anyone, just people interested in shows like Viva La Bam and that stuff. It's like an acquired taste.

I must say though, the chorus riff to BYOB is pretty sweet

Make up your mind, BYOB either sucks or it is good, can't have it both ways.

Actually, you can. You can think a part of the song is good, but most of it sucks. It's like a movie. One scene might be really great, but the rest might suck.

The only SOAD song worth learning is Chop Suey because all the others sound like mush coming out of a guitar, awsome mush but nothing too interesting. And mabye the chorus riff to aireals(sp? gawd my brain is out to lunch today)

I despise CKY not for their music (which is too generic for me to care) but for their fans. Okay, logic dictates that some of them must be decent enough people, but I've seen too many members of the CKY Alliance who not only buy into the band's idiotic depiction of themselves as both musically radical (hah!) and some kind of challenge to the music industry (whilst being signed to Island records, a member of Universal Music Group and therefore obviously the last stronghold against The Man), but will go to the most insane, pointless lengths to defend their heroes

On a more positive note, Sack Trick are one of the most fun bands ever

There are too many of these so called punk bands out there. Bands like Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Bowling for Soup. They say they are "punk" but they should really call themselves "suck". The only real True Blue punk bands out there, today, are Green Day and Sum 41. If you want to know what real punk music is listen to bands like The Clash, Dead Kennedys, and The Sex Pistols, and get rid of this modern crap.
