Now, I'm a gamer just like everyone else, but has anyone pondered certain things about video-games? Like if Slippy Toad is a guy or girl. Or if Master Cheif actually is that corny in real life. And how come the main character in almost any platformer never talks? These questions really bother me. Give me your opinions about this topic.

Gabe and Tycho would seem to think the former. (Warning: Link not approved for any audience. Strong language and innuendo.)

Master Chief doesn't exist in real life. Video game, remember?

Good voice actors are expensive, and what if you make a sequel but can't hire the same voice actor? The change would be irritating to fans.

Wait, I think I missed the philosophical part? Where's the philosophical part?

I know Master Cheif isn't "real"...I just have too much spare time! But I meant if he were real, would he spit out a lot of corny one liners? And when I said philisophical, I didn't even know what that meant. So I guess you could say I'm using big words to sound smart. But then again, the word philisophical has to do with pondering, doesn't it?

And why is the main character of any RPG a young teenage boy who has crazy spikey hair that goes all over the place? And why does is it that the towns close to him come stocked with really crappy armor in their stores, while all the far- away towns have the best weapons and armor in their stores? And why are there these huge, strong npc's who can't seem to beat the main bag guy, whereas our lil tiny hero somehow IS able to cast the spell and win the game?

oh man, that's just a start...

I think there's a lot of things we learn from playing RPGs. In my opinion.

Probably so, but I did give fair warning.

Another question that has been bellowing through the bowels of my stomach is "How did Namco create the idea of Katamari Damacy?". I wanna know!

I think they dont talk much because you can input your own name, and it is hard not to use the name while one is talking...

Actually, they did it in Baten Kaitos... you play as a "Guardian Spirit", and the characters will talk to you in their noticeably bad voice acting. (I named myself "Cid". I'm such a fool.)

"What do you think, Cid? What should we do?" equals "What do you think? What should we do?"

Yes, yes I did. But I have been pondering that question ever since I bought Star Fox 64. BTW: I think they said that phrase differently...*cough* profanity *cough*.

After playing Star Fox: Assault, I still have yet to found the evidence of Slippy Toad's gender. Even in the cut scenes, Slippy's father never refers to "it" as his son or daughter. Why must you torment me NAMCO??!?!?!?

Sometimes I qusetion the stupidity of characters.

"No! Don't go in there! That's where the ninjas are! Oh super! I only have a pistol! C'mon."

Well, if you like questioning the reality of video games, you might like these fine comic strips:

8-Bit Theatre

RPG World (although Ian hasn't updated in like forever)

Adventurers!

Also, In many adventureing games, the bad guy gives a big ol speech to good guy explaining his master plan, And I have to wonder whats keeping good guy from just shooting him while hes talking. Although I did see 2 video games that I think sorta made fun of this. In sonic adventure 2 when playing as sonic when your fighting aganist shadow he stands still and says somthing like "FOOL! you dont think you can possibly win!" And you can hit him while hes doing that. Also is resident evil4 Leon throws a knife at a guy giving a long ol speech, pinning his hand to the wall, and causeing him to cry *seriously*

I'm pretty sure that there are other games that do that. I'm almost positive that Paper Mario 1 & 2 poke fun at RPGs. Either that, or I was just hallucinating again.

I think Paper Marios 1 & 2 make fun of frickin' EVERY video game. The items, the power-ups, the 2Dness... dang, it's hilarious.

Not only that, but they PROMOTE nintendo games!

Sometimes I feel that Nintendo is a sell out. Pikmin 2 anyone? Another thing that bothers me is that I wanna know who thought of WarioWare. I feel that that game is also drug induced. And why is every japanese import weird??!!??!

Yep. That's what makes it funny. "I'm really into Game Boy games now! I have this really awesome game, Fire Emblem! You should play it!" Heh heh heh.

What do you mean by "sell out"? Pikmin was a best-seller, so they obviously made a Pikmin 2. WarioWare is simply a gigantic collection of mini-games for people who don't want to think about their video games. Quite innappropriate for this topic. And, pretty much every game nowadays is a Japanese import. Both Nintendo and Sony are Japan-based companies, remember?

Yeah Sony has never had a non-Japanese CEO until now.

When I say "sell-out" I mean blatent product placement. Pikmin 2 is a great game, it's just I feel they're trying to sell me something by using the following products in the game:

Duracell Batteries (c) "They keep going and going..."
Coca-Cola (r) "Everyone's favorite buy coca-cola....'tis good. Softdrink."
Yoohoo Chocolate Elixer (tm) "It's the best chocolate drink since Chocolate Milk. Except ours is better."
7up Bottle Caps (c) "You can collect them!"

Need more proof? See for yourself.

There's a VG Cats comic that makes fun of it.
Slight Language.
http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=124
And I'm sorry if I was being innapropriate. Most of my research is based on X-Play. And when I said Japanese imports, I mean imports that were only for Japan, like that domino game.

Oh! I see what you mean. Yeah, they drop products a lot. Kinda scary.

What I meant by "innappropriate" is that it wasn't fit for this topic. WarioWare is about as un-philosophical as you can get.

This is really weird. I feel like I've skipped ten or so VG Cats comics. Gah! I thought I read the entire archives! My brain!

Oh...
Well it was pondering, which has to do with philosophy.
