Post subject:  Persuasive Writing
Ok...Today in my Basic Ed. Class, we had to write an on-demand persuasive essay. The prompt of the essay was, "You are in the school committee. You're principal has decided to get a special guest for an assembly to reward your school's hard efforts." The directions were to write an letter to the principal and convince him to accede to your idea on a guest speaker.

Many of the people did people who are role-models. Like, Lance Armstrong, or Oprah Winfrey...

...But I chose to do my essay on TBC. I said that they were respected by many people, and that they are very creative.

Hopefully I did well on the essay... :eek:

If you were writing about TBC, he couldnt fail you....unless he's one of those teachers who think homestar is mindless drivel....but it was a great idea to write about them!

Second off, I don't think she knows about Homestar since she's like 50 billion years old.

What you principal DIDN'T tell you is that is was a secret contest. Seriously, TBC should make public appearances.

I got my paper back. I got a 4 out of 6. That's pretty awesome considering the teacher had no idea who I was talking about. And it was like the best grade I had gotten on a persuasive paper this year. I read it over after I got it back, and I thought I had done a good job. So, I'm happy.

If I ever have time, I'll post the essay. So you guys can criticize me! :mrgreen:

Thank you Iki for that great idea. I was straining for an idea for my english paper. And I know that my eng prof has at least heard of Homestar Runner because she said in class that she thought my shirt (the Homsar one) look awesome.

The only persuasive writing I know aboot is when I "persuade" people to stop acting like idiots on the Forum.
