Every year, without fail, at every family get together there is a big fight. My abuelo is a diehard Republican, who supports Bush. Most of the rest of my family have serious problems with Bush, including myself. Most of my family speaks Spanish, even if my understanding is...rather garbled i can tell that they are saying some very bad things... as soon as I hear "Republican" (which they say in english) I hastily rush from the room along with both my brothers and my cousin and scream "Neciscito ir al bano" And without fail, when i come back, somebody is missing. Can anyone give me any tips as to calming them down?? I really hate this, but cant seem to get them to stop.

¿Dice silencio? I don't know. Just remind them that this is a family get together, and that they shouldn't be arguing.

I wish I took spanish.
I kinda know what you mean. Even though my immediate family are fairly liberal, both my mom's and dad's sides of the family are huge conservatives. That leads into some heated debates, especially in regards to me, because I'm hoping to get into politics one day.
