Post subject:  Reality Shows?

I'm a BIG fan of stupid shows and all, but don't you think that the "Reality Show" Genre is all dried out? Like Patton Oswalt said: "There's no more reality left on TV. They filmed it all." Just post your comments/thoughts/opinions on this craze.

Now this is what the FCC should be gettin rid of.
Some reality shows are now cruel such as "Who's Your Daddy" on Fox.

Personally, I can't stand so-called "reality shows", save the Surreal Life. That's a great idea, washed up, has beens living together for all the world to see. (There is no sarcasm there, I really like it). The only way they could/should improve it would be to put one random normal person in the house, too.

I also liked the Joe Schmo shows, those were great, too. Especially the second season where they had to rush to come up with something when one of the "contestants" realized what was going on.

As for the rest of the genre, I could care less if someone decided to launch them all into a black hole, and possibly across the event horizon (although I have doubts that one can do that).. The same goes for American Idol. You have a bunch of people who think they have talent trying to make an easy entrance into the music industry.
Still, I DO follow my own advice when I see one of these shows on; "If you don't like what's on the TV, change the channel or turn it off!"

I got one that will probably air next fall on fox:

It's called "Who Wants to Kill a Random Guy?"
There is one main contestent who has to kill off 2 out of 3 people. The three people try to "woo" this one guy over with favors and gifts. Whichever two people the contestant hates the most, will be killed. The Person that isn't killed is awarded with a BRAND NEW CAR!

I would rather impale my eyeballs on rusty pikes than watch most of today's reality drivel.

My thoughts exactly... :)

That makes sense, because The Scripted Reality show known as the "Simple Life" is about as interesting as staring at Nicole Richie....which is the only reason I watch it...

Very few "reality" shows are actually reality. Now, we're just getting all this fancy, pomp-and-circumstance drama shows. That really bugs me. I like Real World, since they're not competing for missions or doing what the producers tell them. The Real World is pretty close to reality, except for the fact that most of the RW cast is attractive, and in real life, there are ugly people as well, lol.

Remember back when Survivor was the only "reality" show. My how times have changed.

I actually enjoy watching American Idol. (Don't kill me, kind sir.) The judges are so funny. Or, at least, I think so.

I also watch Fear Factor. Joe is so cool.

Okay, okay, okay...I confess...I like the reality show Big Brother (well actually, I'm quite obsessed with it). Can't wait for Big Brother 6!

I don't mind Idol, it's bearable. Survivor is not too bad, but like mathgrant said, it's always the people who lie, cheat and backstab who win, and I hate that (except Sandra in the Pearl Islands, she was the only worthy winner).
Big Brother, hmmm. I actually wanted to go on there this year, but they're not holding auditions in my town, and I'm not desperate enough to fly all over the country till I get in, like some people do for Idol shows. I just wanted a holiday.....

I really like the Amazing Race, I can't miss an episode. One of the best reality shows ever. Sure, there is your share of lying and deception, but nowhere near Survivor standards. The new season is starting in Australia on Tuesday, I can't wait! I wanted Colin and Christie to win last season, even though he was not the nicest person, but because they played so well and achieved so much. Chip and Kim winning disappointed me, coz she was all like "I wanna make a contribution", she did one roadblock and decided that was the only contribution she was gonna make....

In closing, this is a lengthy post!

I watch American Idol at the beginning of the season, to see all the stupid auditions. I usually won't watch later on, unless I really like one of the contestants, which I have to say hasn't happened yet. I have, for the past 2 seasons, watched Canadian Idol in its entirety, but maybe that's because it hits closer to home, and I fell in love with Jenny Gear in season 1 and Jacob Hoggard in season 2.

Unfortunately, I'm hopelessly addicted to Survivor. Partially because every season we have a pool at work and the show's outcome could win me a bunch of money.

I love the Joe Schmo Show. I love how it makes fun of those "a bunch of people living in a house" shows. I bought the DVDs of season 1 and am waiting for season 2 to come out.

I have to admit that I've watched Wife Swap (which isn't as dirty as it sounds) a couple of times, and it's kind of funny, but it's just silly.

Aside from those, I don't watch any other reality TV, especially the Bachelor/Bachelorette-type things, and the Big Brother-type things. And what's with all the plastic surgery shows? I think that's just wrong. Unless someone's getting plastic surgery to repair some kind of (legitimate) disfigurement or repair damage incurred in some kind of accident, I think it's just silly.

In closing, I watch a lot of TV.

I find that most reality shows are getting worse. They're redundant, and most of the times just horrible to watch. This is why I spend most of my time on the wiki and the forum instead of watching tv. Unless MXC is on.

I'm tired of reality t.v. I thought that this craze would be dead by now. The problem is that for every reality show on t.v., the less good show are on t.v. Most of the "reality" shows on television are not reality. Here's my idea for a reality show:

Joe Average
The show where you watch a guy go through his everyday routene, including
    Waking up
    Brushing his teeth
    Taking a shower (CENSOR'D!)
    Eating breakfast
    Going to work
    Getting stuck in traffic
    Arriving late
    Working
    Eating lunch
    Working some more
    Going home
    Getting stuck in traffic again
    Eating dinner
    Watching t.v.
    and Falling to sleep

I have two words for the people watching that crap: FALLING ASLEEP. BORED OUT OF THEIR MINDS. LOW NETWORK RATINGS. I GUESS THIS WAS MORE THAN TWO WORDS. THE SIGNATURE,TAKE US HOME.

Thats even good enough to be an RPG.

I have a good idea. Maybe we should e-mail Strong Bad, asking him if Strongbadia has its own reality shows. I would imagine that Strongbadia's reality show would be awexome. It would be better than that reality crap that they try to air these days. Does anyone else think that this is a good idea?

I did that a while back, or something like it.

You know what I hate? The Simple Life. You know what I hate more? Paris Hilton.

BOT, I would agree that the simple life is indeed, better than giving a mentally challenged monkey mouth-to-mouth resessitiation. Although I wouldn't mind giving Nicole Richie mouth-to-mouth resessitation...

Ten have "The X Factor" which is basically the same as Australian Idol. Really, they might as well have Australian Idol 3 then have The X Factor. Though there are a few differences between the two shows.

Don't do that. You don't know where that's been.

Instead, work on your spelling.

Sorry, resesssesitaion or however you spell it is a really hard word for me. Edit: There shall now be a poll. Should reality shows be banned from tv?

I don't really think that we should BAN all reality shows, but a lot of them are really crappy. I have an idea: If you don't like them, don't watch them. That way the networks will realize that they suck and will cancel them.

BOTPD...? :eekdance:
