The Face on the Milk Carton is my favorite book of all-time. It's about a girl named Janie who sees her face on the milk carton and begins to remember things from her kidnapping. I was wondering if anybody else has read this book and if so, what do you think about it?

Why would her face be on a milk carton?

She was kidnapped really young, and her mother continues to try to get her back by putting the picture up every year.

She was kidnapped real young, so she didn't remember the kidnapping. Then, when she's older, she doesn't know that the person she is living with is actually the kidnapper. She then finds her face on the milk carton, and realizes that this person she is living with really isn't her actuall parent.

...Right?

Wow, this brings back memories! I read that book a long, long time ago when I was in Junior High...but as I remember, the family who raised Jainie weren't her kidnappers, their daughter was the kidnapper, and then they just raised Jainie as their own, right?

Yup! It turns out that her false parents' daughter is the kidnapper.

I should, but I don't. I'm asking why would her face be on some sort of milk carton. I know she was kidnapped, but I'm asking the question literally. Here's the question with emphasis on the right words: Why would her face be on a milk carton? Not that Why was she kidnapped, but Why on a carton of milk?

Because a milk carton is a common place people look...people get milk delivered to their door...sometimes in plastic bottles sometimes in cartons...now, sometimes on milk cartons (in real life) they have picture of people who are missing/wanted...that's the best I got...

Thanks for your answer ikipapa1. That's weird. I've never ever seen a milk carton or anything with milk in it have a missing/wanted message, that's why I think it is very weird.

Actually, there are three sequels, Whatever Happened to Janie?, The Voice on the Radio, and What Janie Found. Look for them at your local library!

Okay, just borrowed all four books from the library and finished them. They were quite good. I really enjoyed book 2, book 1 was pretty good, book 3 was pretty good and book 4 was good, but ultimately disappointing.

I was wondering if there was a book 5 in the series as I was very annoyed for Hannah to not be brought to justice and I wanted Jennie to rectify her relationship with her biological parents. Good series, but book 4 could have been a lot better. It promises a lot, but doesn't deliver all the goods. I mean I can't always expect the conclusion to be all happy la de dah, but after 4 books you want something a bit more concrete!

Yeah, I agree that Whatever Happened to Janie? is the best, followed the first one, then the third one, then the fourth.

As for the ending, I was kinda hoping that Janie would go back to live with the Springs, too. But I did kind of like that at the end, she realizes that she found her way home. But anydangway, the last book was kind of dissapointing, because I really wanted Janie to talk with Hannah.
