Buddy Holly - Weezer

A song only bested by its video.

edit: it's called "Smokin". That should have been obvious.

Are you talking about "Smokin'" by Boston?

Hearts and Gold - Toca featuring Busdriver, Pigeon John & Ellay Khule

LOVE THIS SONG. If this could be where underground rap/hip-hop is heading in the future, then I'm on board baby!

Helmet - Better

It sucks that their only Washington tour date this year is at a festival with a bunch of crappy bands that I've never heard of. I'll probably go anyway because tickets are like $11.

Iron Man

Also on the Top 500 radio countdown. It's been pretty good, but I'm gonna be mad if number one ends up being Stairway or Freebird.

Continued win. This song reminds me of some sort of carnival fanfare.

You Shook Me All Night Long

So the countdown of the "500 Best Rock Songs Ever" is in the top ten and this is number ten. I swear they played Don't Fear the Reaper twice though.

edit: "More Than A Feeling" at 9, "Sweet Home Alabama" at 8.

Nascent - TesseracT

Hmm, these guys are pretty good. They kinda remind me of Meshuggah except with less growly vocals. Also, they're probably the only metal band that I've heard that has a saxaphone solo in one of their songs. Yeah, seriously.

EDIT: scratch that, they do have growly vocals in some of their songs. Ah well, still an impressive band musically.

Well, there's the opera from FFVI. If you consider yourself any kind of gamer or internet geek you should play that, if you haven't already.

As for me, I'm listening to The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite by R.E.M. Good song, one of my favorite R.E.M. songs. I just got into them recently, so that song will forever be associated with the beginning of summer vacation in my mind.

Listening to Modest Mouse's We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. It's decent, I guess. The lead singer bothers me.
