I get that a lot too. My parents always tell me to cut my hair.

Other someone (a day later): Yeah, this has ABP'd, it's gonna be locked.

R U SHUR?!

And I already said it. Nice going.

You don't pay attention in math class, do you? Looks like you could use some spelling and/or typing practice, too.

Peeve: People who post completely useless or, at least, unintelligible things in threads for no other reason than to make their post counts go up. It's even worse when they revive a thread that's been gone for weeks to do the same.

I apologize if I'm who you're talking about StrongRad (I think I am) and I completely understand and respect what you are saying (:)) but the post I made in that thread was not given under an intention to make my post count higher. I was pondering that definition, and thinking about what exactly a religion was, although I appreciate your concern for the forum.
I was trying to make a meaningful post, although it's not always easy to express how I feel and/or my opinion. No, not TELL WHAT I THINK, express my opinion.

Don't worry, it'll pass. I'll give you a tip, though: It helps a lot to have nice hair. If your hair is unwashed and ratty and tangled, you're not gonna get any positive attention. But if you shampoo AND condition it with decent products (FYI, combo shampoo+conditioner in one bottle is worthless, no exceptions) every single day, and get it trimmed once in awhile to keep the ends lined up and to control split ends, people will notice and a lot of the negative attention will turn into positive attention.

On the other hand, if you don't have the time or patience to take care of your hair, then get it cut already. You're making the rest of us long-hairs look bad. Image

My peeve: the Live365 tracking cookie that reinstalls itself somehow, and I've never even gone to live365 whatever, and the annoying Viewpoint adware (also known as that annoying toolbar that installs itself on IE), which I've uninstalled but is scattered through my lappy. GRRG!

And no, I don't use IE.

IE is like a plague. And a taint. No matter how hard you try, you can't completely rid your computer of it.

My peeve is society.

I hate people teasing.

My peeve at the moment is people(or, rather, teachers) not sticking to their words. I prefer to be punished, rather than chased up about something.

I hate it when you're about to do something nice, like take out the trash, without being asked, but your parents come along and ask you to do it. That completely messes up whatever thoughful thing I was about to do anyway. Graahh.

One of my biggest peeves is when someone asks me to do something for them, like a favor or whatnot, and then when I go out of my way to do it, they say, "You did it wrong!" or "I never asked you to do that for me!". Ugh. I can't stand being such a pushover.

100 POSTS OMG LOL.

I think you like totally just exceeded your "like" quota. Like seriously.

I'm sorry to hear about that. I was in a similar position in middle school and the beginning of high school. I know this probably won't make you feel much better, but: It really does get better. Not immediately, but as people mature (not everybody grows up, but most people do), more and more of them will realize your worth. In high school I found out that one of the most powerful things for making people respect you is self-confidence. Even if you don't have any self-confidence, you can fake it. It's tough at first, but it pays off in the end. When you walk down the hall, stand straight up and look straight ahead, not down at your shoes. Make eye-contact with people--your friends as well as acquaintances who aren't among your persecutors. And smile. Scowling all the time makes you unapproachable to people who might otherwise want to get to know you (not to mention smiling instantly makes anyone 10X more attractive). Also, good hygiene counts for a lot. Shower every day, brush your teeth twice a day, comb/brush your hair, wear clean clothes that fit you correctly and aren't wrinkly or stained, make sure your deodorant is effective, and so on.

Lastly, and this is a bit of advice that isn't always very well-received: Talk to your parents. Your parents are smarter than you think and want you to be happy, and they'll do everything they can to help you. Just be honest with them, and tell them what it's like for you at school. They'll probably have better advice than I could give.

My peeve is that I have an excellent idea for a YTMND, but have virtually no image editing software, nor a way to make a GIF out of the images I would create. I do have Audacity for the audio, but I can only sort of understand it.

Actually, if anyone is willing to help me out, let me know and I'll PM you with the details. I'll credit you when I attain Intarweb superstardom...

I'm going to have to second IJ's suggestion, rfpt. He's right... being confident is the way to go. I remember when I was just starting high school I met a kid who was skinny, not really good at sports, had acne and glasses. He had every reason to be insecure about himself if he wanted. But the thing that amazed me was that he was very popular. He had a lot of friends and dated plenty of different girls. As I watched him and tried to figure out why, I realized it was because he was confident. He looked people in the eye and was nice to everyone. He had a great sense of humor and was nice to everyone.

Bottom line, as IJ said, is fake it til' you make it. Even if you don't feel confident, act confident. People will respect that, and after a while, you won't need to fake it anymore.

I can edit photos and make GIFs, with a fair amount of skill, might I add.

EDIT: augh! i hate my sister so much! she says to dad "can i please use the computer for research?" she gets permission, but really, she opens up the word doc, and MSN messenger ovet it! so of course, i walk past and she quickly minimises MSN and pretends to type the document. about 2 hours later, i ask dad to use the computer, and he says "no, you can't. lillian's doing research, not playing mindless games like you do." so of course i say to dad what she's doing and he just tells me off for bothering her. i finally get some justice when dad's girlfriend comes home. i explain it to her and she talks to dad about it but when dad asks lillian about it, she just says "but i was working! i was working on my homework between each reply!" i tell dad that she replys so fast, she can't do her work, but he doesn't listen. so another hour and a half later, dad checks on lillian and finally believes me when she's only done one sentence. so i get 4 free hours tomorrow, but it's just not the point.

Peeve: The people who are promoting themselves for the Forum Awards. Are you people so shallow that you must promote what you do in hope of getting a nod? Here is a tip, don't. It cheapens the Awards. The Awards are about people recognizing you, not you reminding people to recognize you for what you have done. In the last awards, all I needed was a second for my best poster nod and I would have had it. I never self-promoted myself over it. Granted when I didn't get it, I overreacted quite bit, but I will never promote myself over it.

And remember, if you don't get a nod now, there is always January.
