Peeve: When people say that this forum is getting worse and more boring, and that's why people are leaving, and we need to all shape up, and make this forum a better place, and blah blah blah blah blah.
Personally, I don't think anything's wrong with this forum. Sure, I miss the way things were back in the old days when I joined; but the forum is evolving, and in my opinion, getting better. This forum has a personality of its own, and I like it better than any other forum on the Internet. It's so well-liked by its members that whole novellas, some of which are book-quality, may I add, (I'm looking at you, Disk) are created about it and its members. The forum has grown from a place to discuss Homestar Runner toons 'n such, to a place where people with similar interests can hang out and get to know each other in a friendly, non-hostile environment. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I love this place. I never, ever plan to leave here. I'm saddened by the recent exodus, but we don't have to let that drag us down. Personally, I wouldn't change this forum for the world.

Thus ends my pithy little statement.

I love how some of those who say we need to "shape up" are users are more than likely the problem. I'm not gonna say any names, but if you've been here for less than a year, I really don't see how you have any right to judge the forum, nor do you have any right to tell us things had better change..

If things are so bad, LEAVE. Simple.

I'm not saying the forum is going downhill if this is subliminally to me. I'm just saying many of peoples have finals and projects for the end of the year so less people will be on. Like Capt., he has projects due, so he isn't on all that much. Sorry if I cause so much annoyance. I'll shut my... yap.

My statement wasn't directed at you... sorry if it came off a bit harsh. It was mainly directed at the people in the "Leaving" thread who say we need to stop being so boring.

I was more referring to StrongRad's statement, because I've been here less than a year, and I say things like that, well, not wholey like that, I just say people are getting the massive cram of school work that teachers assign the end of school because they procrastinated done (What a run on). Makes me feel so guilty... :(

One of my new pet peeves is PETCO's online application, which I filled out about a week ago. After I put in some location information, like my zip code & the closest store & all that, they ask me, "Are you willing to work in Alaska?". Are you KIDDING me?!? My zip code should tell them NO; I live in Colorado! The other question they asked me on that page was "Are you 18 years of age or older?". I picked no, & then my application was over.

PETCO needs to flat-out say BEFORE you start that applicants need to be 18 or older, so that people under that age can move on, & not answer such aneurysm-inducing questions as "Are you willing to work in Alaska?".

That is all.

and being 18, that's like program setups i download. website: which program would you like? how fast is your connection? do you have windows or mac? what mirror do you want to download from?
then, i've downloaded it. custom setup or automatic? do you agree? which folder? then, just as i'm about to finish, 'sorry, you have windows ME. this program doesn't support windows ME'

they could of said that on the website. oh, wait. they do. on the bottom of the page. in tiny writing 'note: this program doesn't support windows95/98/ME'

not the program in question, but does anyone know where to get sketchup 4.0?

I shoulda made it clear that people who have a disagreement regarding something here are more than ok, I mean, even I have some problems with things here.
Disagreeing with how some things go is ok... Getting all emo and whining about how "this forum is going downhill!!" is not.

You know what's really getting to me? MSN messenger. On my regular computer it won't seem to log in. will just keep saying that it's signing in. It will do that for hours. It's what's happening to me now. Does anyone know what I should do? I've e-mailed MSN about it, but they were no help.

Well, you could always use your AIM screen name instead. As far as I know, more people are on AIM than on MSN, at least at my school, even though America Online is one of the worst anythings of all time, I think that all IMs are pretty much equal since they serve their sole purpose: To deliver messages instantly, hence the name "I.M." As long as an IM can do that, I don't see why it should be considered any worse than other companies', but then again my noobliness knows no bounds, so this entire paragraph may be for naught. Ah well!

As for peeves, mine is this book I'm currently reading, Team of Rivals. I consider myself a pretty good reader for an eleven year old, but this book is just crazy. There are times when I go for about ten pages without understanding a word of it. But there's also parts where the political drama is so intense and intriguing that I can do naught but to continue reading and page-turning and whatnot.
Another peeve is my Language Arts teacher, who consistently teaches us incorrectly. For example, she claims that "excited" is an adjective, when it is clearly a past-tense verb of the root word "excite;" i.e. "The balloon excited the small boy" could easily be regrouped into "The small boy was excited about the balloon," thus making it a verb. (Yes, I'm a grammar nazi/geek.)
Oh yes, and how could I forget? Emos and chavs. I hope they wipe each other out in a nuclear (That's NEW-clear) war. 'Nuff said.

It's a subject compliment. It modifies the subject, "The boy was excited"; the boy = excited.

I get the lyrics to Extraordinary Girl by Green Day so I can download it with Letterbomb, and show it to my dad ( I'm not allowed to listen to explicit songs), and he gives me permission. One problem, It's one of the two songs that you can only get by buying the album. Grr.

Okay, I have a lot of Pet Peeves today but I guess I'll rant about the main one that's bugging me.

Work experience. We're made to spend a week in some place to get a taster of what the 'real world' is like in the Land of Jobs. We don't get paid, despite working our butts off while the rest of the employees sit around and talk about last nights doings.

I ended up in some crappy little charity shop. They don't let me sit down and have basically left me to my own devices on running the shop floor. That's okay, I guess but thanks for throwing me into the deep end without giving me armbands or something! They also *won't* let me use the till even though it specifically said in the job description that I would be using one. I'm tired of standing around the counter and then some customer coming over and expecting me to serve them. I'd be much happier to just go ahead and serve them instead of wandering into the backroom and interrupt the others during their discussion of Big Brother.

Also, being left to my own devices makes me very.. obsessive about things. I tidied up literally everything. I put the bags in size order, the shoes are colour coded, the books are alphabetical (and there are about four large shelves full), the toys are all sat in a row, etc etc etc. The place has never looked so orderly and I would appreciate a thank you, but nope.. they could care less about whether I was there or not.

Seriously, if this is what the future has in store for me then I'm just gonna become a hobo.

Here's a couple of things:

This morning, I went to church and decided to change my oil while I was there. I remove the lug nut, drain the oil, then go to change the filter. Only one problem: what filter? I had forgotten to get new filter! I could have thwackinated myself for that one!

Anyway, I walk to Stuff-Mart (nearly a 45 min walk away from the church), buy my oil filter, and run into Bob, a Presbyterian pastor in the area. Thankfully, he offered me a ride back to the church, and saved me about half an hour.

On a good note, I had just gotten one of those chambered oil pans. Man, those things make clean-up a breeze. That old oil pan I had always made a huge mess. So I really didn't have a whole lot of clean-up afterwards.

The other thing is this: a few weeks ago, a friend asked me if I could help him with a problem. Sure, no probolo, I said, and even gave him my email and cell number. I haven't heard from him since. This annoys me, because, all this time, I've been really worried about him. At the very least, I wish he would let me know he's okay.

And the final thing: I'm supposed to be marrying this couple next month, and they are supposed to be meeting me for premarital counseling. They've been skipping out on me and not calling me to reschedule. Now, the wedding is still 4 weeks away, but two of those weeks I'm not going to be available (one is my ordination/installation!:mrgreen:). Anyway, now I'm in a bind. If I don't complete the premarital counseling, I'm not going to be able to perform the wedding. As it is, this is irresponsible behavior on their part, and raises doubts about their commitment to their marriage, at least in my mind.

Yeah. Call me uncool or whatevs, but those looked really good to me. And I love corn. :cheatgrin: But then again, I'm the kind of guy who at Thanksgiving gets a forkful of turkey, scoops some mashed potatoes up with it, and then scoops some corn all up ons.

Personally, I'd probably get one without the gravy. I'm not much into gravy.

Erg. Now I'm hungry. Lunch time!
