A peeve of mine is one that has to be constantly brought up here- insomnia. I seem to get it frequently on Sunday nights, and it makes Mondays really, really bad. Like as bad as a Monday can be.

even worse, the computer she did buy had windows ME, the crappiest operating system of the new millenium.

but, my peeve i had in mind are the obsolete ball mice. it always gets clogged with dirt, and won't work. i ask my mom to get an optical mouse, but she says "why, when we have a perfectly working mouse right here?"

and, i hate kids who say 'brang' instead of brought.

Peeve: School. It's almost over and I have a teacher shoving a 200 page novel down our throat in four days!!!

Peeve: My parents are totally insisting that I stay in Boy Scouts. I hate it, and I've already told them. They say that if I focus on it, that I can become an eagle. The problem is, I'm not focused on it, and I don't want to focus on it. I'm perfectly fine without it.

Peeve: People who take up two spots in a parking lot.

Gah this ticks me off to no end. Today I went to the mall to look at jobs. When I was looking for a place to park I came across what looked like an empty spot, it wasn't. It was a huge, boat of a car, Cadilliac. It wasn't an Escalade, it was a mid-90's DeVille. This car was so big that if it were to hit me, they would have to pick the pieces of me out of the grill while buffing the scratches out of it. Anyways back to the deal at hand. I feel that anyone who takes up two spots should have their car keyed, and I am not talking about one little scratch. I am talking about going around the car 5 times, maybe that will send them a message.

Peeve: No water!

So they're doing some big plumbing project over by the water tower and unexpectedly there's no running water in most of the town today. My desire for a daily shower borders on addiction, and I am weathering this poorly. I've got the faucet on the kitchen sink in the "on" position so when the water comes back I'll know right away, but even then I'll have to wait half an hour (at least) for the water heater to do its thing. Sigh. I wish I was a chinchilla and could just take a dust bath.



Secondary peeve: I think I'm on the verge of getting a cold but I can't find my Zicam. So now I have to leave the apartment, unshowered, to go get some.

Heck, how can you hate Boy Scouts?

You get to be outdoors all the time.

You learn all sorts of cool stuff.

You make some really great friends.

Eagle can greatly increase your chances of getting in to good colleges and good jobs.

You get skills that nobody else has.

And you have a bunch of great memories!

Boy Scout meetings are the highlights of my fricking week, man!

Tefflo and I are Boy Scouts.

I'm going to take the Calvin's dad's approach and say, "It builds character."

And it's fun.

I'm an Eagle, but I haven't ever put it on a resume or anything. It always felt out of place, since it was like 12 years ago that I earned it. However, at an interview last year, somebody asked if I was an Eagle Scout, and then told me I should put it on my resume. I still didn't, but I guess I was surprised that people actually care about how hard my mom worked when I was a kid.

And for a peeve: Stupid claritin doesn't work well enough after I mow the lawn.

You know, I have a wireless router in my house, but I can't for the life of me get it to work. I don't feel like calling Tech Support because last time I called them I was on hold for an hour. When I finally got through, I couldn't even understand the guy because : A) He no speaka da english. 2) His little microphone thing was way too close to his mouth and I couldn't understand the language he was speaking in if I wanted to.

Racerx, I'm a bit confused about your mom work comment. I understand the basic meaning of it, but how exactly was your mom able to earn everything for you?

I have been known to do something like this: park as close as I can to their car without touching it, so they can't open their driver side door.

My parking lot pet peeve: people who are too lazy to take their grocery carts the whole entire 10 ft to the buggy corral, but instead leave their cart right in the parking space where I'm trying to park. I mean, sheesh, people! Are you that freaking lazy?

Yes. Yes they are. They're also too lazy to put things back when they pick them up, etc. etc. I guess they figure "someone gets paid to do this, why should I bother?".

No one hires an Eagle Scout because they know how to tie knots or make a lean-to or because they are expert marksmen or because they have the lifesaving merit badge.

It's because the Eagle Scout badge shows that you are dedicated and can finish what you started. There are some Eagle Scouts of whom you can say that is true. But for the most part, and I know, I've been a scoutmaster for a couple years, the kids who get stuff done and progress towards their Eagle have dedicated mothers who encourage and push their sons to accomplilsh this goal. The kids do have a part in going along with their mothers, but if the parents aren't actively involved, most kids aren't gonna do it.

That's why I say the Eagle Badge shows you more about the parents than about the scout. But don't get me wrong, the kid who does get the merit badge is still almost universally a good kid, with desirable qualities that have been developed and are good for a potential employee or student to have. But the quality developed is more likely to be obedience and not rebelling against their parents than self-startedingness and dedication.

Oh God, I remember that. When I worked at a grocery store we would have that problem every Saturday. People would leave their carts in the middle of the parking lot, and to make matters worse the cart catchers wouldn't go get them. As you can tell we often ran out of carts.

I have a good reason why to hate the Boy Scouts.

I think that's one of those universal peeves. Everyone hates that. I have to park my car way in the back of the parking lot to make sure no rampant carts run into it.
