Ah, LimeWire is my best friend in these troubled, money-less, iTunes having days.

'Cept for that one time when I downloaded a virused version of "Somebody Told Me". Blecch.

Peeve: Old computers. They are too slow and grumpy.

Computers, unlike furniture, books and other items, don't become antiquated, but instead, computers become outdated.

A computer is obsolete roughly one week to a year after you purchase it. Normally it is closer to a month.

And [sic] one more thing! See those guys in the computer store who seem to avoid you? Those aren't "Sales Associates", but rather spies for major computer companies. They radio in to release the "next gen" product after you've left the store with what you think is the latest version.

I feel sorry for those who bought a Pentium III computer shortly before the Pentium 4 came out.

Peeve: Those who spell "Pentium 4" as "Pentium IV". That is NOT the appropriate name, people!

Fed Ex

Holly sent me a package (expensive) and Fed Ex just left it outside my door like a bunch of tards...

She spent $250 + on the clothes, and another $80 to overnight it to me. They tried to deliver it Saturday, but I must have been in the shower when they showed up, because they left a door tag.

Knowing they were going to deliver it this morning, I left a note on the door telling them to deliver it to the office at my apartment complex (which they usually do if nobody is home) or to my office. The lady I called said that the drivers cannot change delivery because of notes on the door (in case someone might have put that up there to have the package delivered to them). Ok, I can deal with that (even though UPS has done that for me EVERY time I've asked). But, how secure is this policy when they LEAVE THE FREAKIN' PACKAGE OUT IN THE OPEN!!!?!?!?.

Like I said earlier, I called customer service. I asked the lady why they wouldn't have left it Saturday, but did today, she said "good question"..

Man, Holly is mad. I am too.
My landlord is probably madder then the two of us put together, though. Last time I ship with Fed Ex, that's for sure.

I have no end of frustration with the inane and often self-contradictory policies of FedEx. I'm pretty sure they're literally operating on a different plane of existence, some alternate reality where somehow their convoluted business practices make sense to.. someone.

They just told her that they aren't responsible... Umm.. I'm not going to be responsible, either.

I've asked my neighbors if they've seen anything. Like me, they were all at work, and they've all had the same problem...

GUH!!!

I'm half tempted to drive to the place where the package was placed on the delivery truck and act like oh so many WalMart customers I've had to deal with..

Edit: Just in case I didn't make it clear, I never got the package..

I'd say go ahead & do that; don't know what else to tell you. I'll pray, but that's about it.

Update, after talking to person after person, and getting ye olde run(e?) around(e?), they said that they will send her a claim form, but the best she can hope for is $100

Wow.. a whole $20 more than she paid them for the job they didn't do.
My math stinks, but, $20<< what the stuff was worth. (I've found out it was much more than 250.. plus it had my mom and dad's christmas presents from her in it).. I don't know who I would like to cause more bodily harm, the jerk who stole it or the retarded driver who thought it would be a good idea to leave a package out in the open when the rent office is right across the street (more of a driveway, actually) from my apartment.

If she hadn't wanted me to get the stuff she sent, she would have just left it outside somewhere. Oh, wait, that's what they did.. de de de!

It's a long shot, but if she paid by credit card (or Visa/MasterCard bank card) there's a chance the credit card company will reverse the charges. It's worth a try.

We're looking into that

Of course, if Visa does that, there's no reason to let Fed Ex know..

She paid it with a Visa Check Card, so I don't know that it's possible, but we're giving it all we've got..
She needs to do this tomorrow, but she's flying across the country.

A few years back I got ripped off on eBay and I had paid with the Visa check card issued by my bank. All I had to do was go down to my bank, write down my story and sign a couple forms and they give me provisional credit on the spot. But clearly this is a different sort of situation.

Yeah, everything I've looked at about check cards deals with fraud, not out and out theft. I remember that visa purchases used to be covered, but, it seems, they aren't anymore.

I just can't believe how freakin' retarded the truck driver was.. They can't deliver a package to a different address, but they can leave one out in the middle of an apartment complex...
Wow. That's intelligent.

People who always use the wrong form of "They're" in their posts. :P

I really don't like this whole weekly locker search going on at my school. It should be over by next month, but it's really annoying. Apperently some student stole a laptop from the media center and that's why they're doing it. At least, that's what I've heard. I can't get a straigt answer out of anybody.

Why do you hate it so much? What are you hiding? Drugs?! Do you have drugs?!?!?!

Anyways, ya...My TV just busted a few minutes ago (Linus was about to say something meaningful)! That sucked.

No, it's nothing like that, it's just we have to stay at school 20 minutes longer than we usually do. I really think they're overreacting. Locker searches aren't going to get them anywhere.

Never in my locker. I'm not stupid.

I always thought it was a violation of privacy and the exploitation of the fact that minors technically don't have constitutional rights until they finally turn 18.

I went to highschool during the columbine era... and I got my locker searched all the time... it sucked.

Not all of them are this way, but I can't stand the military recruiters that go around high schools and colleges and pester you incessantly about joining the military, even after you said no. The one's that do this always annoyed me.
