Yeah, I know.

Unless I add that code...

Ahh, screw it, I'm not that technical.
DO IT! Simple mod that will take only a few seconds to upload. Just gotta find it.

Strikethrough was the most outrageous thing this forum will have done to it.

Hey, I would love more BBCode but the admins that have the power to add it and know all about the forum care for the Knowledge Base so much more that it's unlikely we would ever get it. If I recall, it was kind of a struggle to get strikethrough. I think the argument against it was "why do you need it".

Thats the argument for everything.

If the admins wanted to, they could disable Avatars and Banners if they felt like it.

"Why do you need them?"

Trust me, if I could, I would. But I'm technologically moronic. Besides, I'm sure some admin would get all in a tizzy about me not asking them first. Tom and IDC got all "Hey, WTF?" when Rad and myself ere made admins.

"Why do you need them?"

It was kind of discussed when someone suggested boosting the KB limit.

Its Dot Com wrote:
As I say, avatars and sigs are not the point of the forum; the point of the forum is what you say in your posts.

I would never go so far as to suggest that images be totally eliminated (I like seeing what some of you guys come up with), but just as an experiment, pick any thread with a lot of posts already in it, and open a window like you're going to write a reply. Next, scroll down to the "Topic review" window at the bottom. See how much easier the thread is to read without all that clutter?

So no, they wouldn't get rid of Avatars and Banners, but they just consider it a bonus and not really relevant.

Take a tutorial or something and do it. You're an admin. Suggest it in the mod board just in case, but really you should be able to. It won't take long, it could really only be a benefit, and if no one uses it anyway, who cares? It's not like you're going to spend over 9000 hours trying to code it.

It is not at all easier that way.

You know, then again...

The scroll thing would probably be really cool for about two days, a period in which every user and their grandmother would whore out the function, then it would be forgotten, [s]just like strikethrough[/s].

So maybe it isn't worth it. Eh, whatever. Your forum.

And disregard anything I said about strikethrough argument, I just looked back at it and it went through quite smoothly. So maybe this would go through easily too.

I dunno, I'm tired. Anything I've written tonight should probably be forgotten. I suppose we don't give a lot of credit to the admins because they don't give us a ridiculous amount freedom. I forget we've got three separate things to manage here: KB, Forum, and Fanstuff, so that's a lot of stuff for one server to handle. As "little" as thing might seem to us, they could probably add up and put a huge toll on their server.

So what's the solution, you ask?

Well, I think we could do without the fanstuff... :p

So, there is this dude on TV that was talking about the first time he saw his 4 year old daughter's bowl movement, and how large it was.
And he is WAY to exited about it.
Ah, the joys of TV at 3 AM.

EDIT: Image
That man.

Yeah, there's something about the avatars and banners that puts visual order to what's otherwise just a wall of text. If they were all HUGE banners, I can see how that might get counterproductive, but our little ones actually help.

1: You could just have it in there for the time you need it to make the dude scroll across your sig and then get rid of the BBcode when you get rid of the sig, and we all can come along for however long the ride is. It'd be something a little different for a couple days.
2: Here's how it works in phpBB3 - in the ACP click Posting, then Add New BBCode, then in the first field put
Code:
[tagname]{TEXT}[/tagname]
(replacing tagname with whatever you wanna call it) and in the second field put
Code:
<marquee>{TEXT}</marquee>
. Probably shouldn't make it visible on the posting page so it doesn't get overused, so don't check that box or add a description. That is... IF phpBB2 is similar at all.

That guy gets on my nerves... Telling us how we're all going to die from a dirty colon unless we get his program.

People lived for years without his program.

Oh well, at least his show is more interesting than the "make your manhood bigger" ads or the "Girls Gone Wild" ads you see at that time of night.
Whatever happened to good ol' "This movie wasn't even good enough for 'direct to video' " late night movie?

Why run movies, when they can just run ads? Makes sense:
1. the stations make more money.
2. no one watches them anyway.
3. that's what God created DVD players for.

Because, when I'm up late, I want to watch something other than ads.

They should bow to my wants, because they are MY wants.
