What would be the proper terminology? Nomadic Hungarian Americans?

I think gypsies refer to themselves as Romany, IIRC.

But then what do we call the Romans?

As I read these past two pages, I laughed to myself.

Why?

Because this is all just a giant cut and dry example of why moral relativism does not logically function or hold together.

Don't let them get to you, Sommy.

According to Wiki, the term "Gypsy" came from slang referring to a mistaken ancestry in Egypt, when in fact the Romani hail from northern India. They even use Devangari script, used in Sanskrit, to write in the Romani language.

I knew up to the slang part, I didn't know the India part. I know enough to act offended when someone says gypsy.

Actually, you might want to note that he didn't say he hated homosexuals. He said he considered homosexuality to be an abomination. I got the impression he was speaking of the behavior, not the people themselves. And heck, I've said pretty much the same thing like a million times in R & P. In an open, public forum. Where everybody can see it. And have defended my position when pressed on it.

No offense, but I made it perfectly clear that I didn't want to know the origin of that joke in points 2 and 3. The generalized accusation of homosexuality told me everything I didn't need to know. To be frank, knowing that it came from the Simpsons doesn't help in the slightest. I hate that show.

Forgive me for taking it seriously, but there are certain things that irritate me to no end. Not the least of which would be "...I CAN SEE FOREVER!", the uncalled-for reference to private body parts when addressing post count, or making light of the name of God with the lame excuse that "God has a sense of humor". Is that how people justify insulting George Bush too; because he has a sense of humor?

I don't care how many black marks I get; Homosexuality is an abomination and I do not apologize for what I said.

There are several things politically incorrect and just plain wrong with this.

Well, when you have a member of you family that is gay and has engaged in homosexual acts, it changes your whole perspective. I can't call homosexuality an abomination even if I wanted to. For if I did so, I'd be calling my cousin an abomination.

my cousin is also gay. acceptance becomes a standard, otherwise family reunions would be very, very awkward.

Yeah, now we pretty much just scream at each other relentlessly. Right, Einoo?

SHUT UP MANDY!

Also, Somm-1. We don't hate you. We just disapprove of your disapproval of homosexuality. Also just for being overly serious. And hating The Simpsons. And, for some ungodly reason, supporting George W. Bush.

But we don't hate you. You're still pretty cool.

What if we say we hate you, do you care then?

Now that an Administrator is watching, it will be interesting to see whether or not I am banned for so-called "hate crimes".

On that note: If I owned a grocery store or a gas station and I found out that one of my frequent customers was homosexual would I deny him service? No, I wouldn't. That being said, I'm not required to approve of what my customer does.
No-one's going to ban you because you don't approve of homosexuality. It's your opinion, and you're entitled to it. Does it mean that we have to agree with you? No. It's not like you're Fred Phelps, and are advocating killing all the gays, or anything like that. So just keep in mind that there are people on here that will greatly disagree with you. The best thing to do if you want to avoid confrontation about this is to not talk about it. I'm not saying to lie about how you feel, but to remember that there are people on this forum that are homosexuals, so please keep them in your mind.

The only reason we are talking about it right now is because Deucex2 didn't respect the confidentiality of a Private Message
which resulted in this thing.

As I recall, he PM'd me back saying he wasn't going to "persecute" me for sounding like a "fundie". He has an absurd way of showing that.

Then Somm, what you need to do is talk to Duece, whether through IM or PM, and work this out.

Why should he? Duece is just going to run share it over on the other forum, and make it a public issue again so Cola can make more sigs. This is what these tard types do. If it were anyone else sharing contents of PM's over here, they'd be up in arms. But because it's them, doing it on that other forum, they feel perfectly justified in doing it. Freaking jerks.

That's right, Deuce. You're a freaking jerk for making these PM's a public issue.

But yeah, Somm. You could stand to lighten up a bit. I do get the impression that at least some of these guys are just jerking your chain.

Dids? Yeah, yer kinda not helping here.

Listen, they need to figure this out like adults. I don't want to get involved unless it's absolutely necessary. I want that the same way with you too Dids. Let them work this out. If it still remains as is, then I will have to intervene.

NOW who's the one who might do better handling things in PM?

I wouldn't have said it if I didn't feel like it needed to be said.

And likewise, the same goes for me.

Listen, Somm, Duece, figure this out. I don't want to get involved if I don't have to. Keep whatever is said between you two to yourselves.

I came late. What happened? From what I've seen it looks like DRAMA. Yeah!

Random thought: My gym clothes and lock for my gym locker got stolen. WTF? Who would want my stinky gym shorts?

To go back to the homopohbia, sometimes I feel like they are being hypocrites. Gay people can't not be gay, homophobic people can't help not liking gay people. I personally, have no problem with homosexuality, but I feel people are entitled to there opinions. But like Somm said, I would never hang out with someone like that.

First of all, I don't consider myself homophobic, at least not the way people speak of it. I don't hate anybody (well, not for being gay, anyway). I have at times felt uncomfortable around gay people, but the way the term is used, that's not the same thing. And yes, it is true that I believe that homosexual behavior is sinful, but again, that's not my feelings so much as it is the proclamation of my faith.

Second, I think it makes a world of difference what you do with such feelings. A homophobe could just keep his mouth shut and not say anything about it ever. Or he could secretly plan to start chucking bricks at them from tall buildings. Or write nasty things about them on teacher evaluation forms. Or, like Somm, he can just openly admit that this is how he feels and go on with life.

From what I know about Somm, I sincerely doubt he plans on chucking any bricks out of any windows anytime soon.

But I must say this: you guys are showing a lot more acceptance than you were with Wes a year or so back. That shows a measure of growth on your part.

Uh, yeah, I posted that on a forum that is now currently unrelated to the WF. I did nothing except share the message for a few laughs. I repeat, I have done nothing. It's everyone else's fault for getting mad at you. In fact, you could of chosen not to share the message on this forum. It could of been limited to the wfwf guise making fun of you.

Look, I was just angry that you had to get all uppity on me just because I tried to explain a joke that I thought you didn't understand. Is this what you do to people that attempt to help you? Yell at them with your ancient fundie idealisms? Gb2/w, somm.
