Droideka wrote: You know, I'm out of the South now, and in the past week and something, I have not heard any one of the following horrible phrases:
"Used to could" "Might should have" "Put some thought on it" I approve of this. So... "used to be able to" is preferable? Think about that for a while. I actually think the use of dual modals (what doing that is called) is pretty awesome. In two syllables it takes care of what everyone else needs six for. And "might should" does in two what you'd otherwise need four for. The other one is a preserved form from a time when you could use "on" with "to think". Aka, stop hatin' on the south-speak, it's perfectly fine. Thx. |

TO CAPTAIN DIDDY It seems that you have a ship with too few men, mate. And it just so happens that I'm not a member of yours or anyone else's crew. So what do you say to letting an android such as myself join your prestigious organization of enterprising young gentlemen? I'm sure some of you bloody pirates out there will claim that I'm soiling this wonderful forum tradition by not speaking in the way that disgruntled sea dogs do. But you forgot one thing, mates. I'm talking like Captain Jack Sparrow. Savvy? |

Dibs I say! Ahaharrrg, now where does ye find yerself, shiny metal man? |

I find myself on an island with not but a name and your word that I'm not wanted by this crew. But that won't stop me, mate. I've got something hidden away on another island that I'm sure your Captain can not refuse: Rum. Barrels upon barrels of bloody rum. Savvy? |

Aye, 'tis a grand day for sailing the seas. It would seem as though me and several of me hearties are going to sing some O' the best sea shanties any of us know, and in public. I'll be wearin' me eyepatch, as seen in my avatar, and bein' a terrible fearsome beast to all that set eyes upon me. Sommy, if you wanted a ship, you could always be me cook, I've been needing a good one, and you can bring the rum along as well. Captain Dreadnaught Droideka, at yer service, me fine sirs. |

Saw a dude with a pirate shirt today at school. And my Comp Sci prof said anyone who wanted to ask questions had to start them with "Yarr". I didn't ask him how he spelled it though. And no one actually started their questions like that anyway. No holiday spirit at all. |
