sorry to double post, but i was just wondering:
What will the next Beta version have?

Also, you'll have to fix the fight song, it isn't in time :/

The beta will have (including stuff from previous version)

- StrongBad_Email.exe
- FightSong
- medalliongoldplus.txt
- PrintOutMillionDollarBill.exe, ThisTimePrintMeOutAMillonsDollarBill.Man.NoFoolin, etc.
- DaCheese (most likely, not guaranteed)
- Emails #42-50
- Forward command (allows you to "forward" the email to Homestar and get a responce)

Comp
- Service Pack 2 Compatible Version

Short question: When you're going to make the Tandy 400 emulator, are you going to code it so it does the scan lines in the background? I've done a little QBASIC programming myself and I think it'll be pretty tricky trying to pull that off...

Unfortunately the scan lines will not be in the emulator, I wish I could, but it would be extremely difficult (if not impossible to pull it off).

Another question: Do you some help developing the emulators? I'm learning QBASIC and getting quite good at it and could lend a hand...

I had someone coding the Tandy 400 emulator, but they cant do it anymore. Any help is appreciated.

I"ll get right to it as soon as I just get a little more familiar with QBASIC (started about a week ago)

That's fweakin' awesome. Here are my ideas:

stongbad_email.exe: Have it say "File Not Found".

print_of_it.exe: Print out the current e-mail.

E-mail answering: I noticed that right now you can only type a certain amount after an e-mail, and if you press Enter you get an error message. (This seems to have the side effect of preventing you from using "exit" or "quit" to quit...) Obviously this isn't true to the real Compy. What you should do is find some way of allowing you to type as much as you want once an e-mail shows up, and then once you're done answering the e-mail you type "end" or something on its own line, and then it prints out The Paper (maybe you could have it turn on and off)and sends you back to the a>.
For e-mails that have multiple e-mails, like #50, you'd type "next" instead (or delete/baleet/delort/matt it) to get to the next one in that toon. Then once it was over you could "end" the e-mail.

MATT!!: I think this one is self-explanatory.

Random e-mail: It would be nice if strongbad_email.exe DID pop up a random e-mail like you said on the site, and instead have a separate command (strongbad_email41.exe, for instance) to get individual e-mails. You're probably already working on this.

Bug/contrast?: I noticed a bug, where if you delete something the screen stays blue. Would it be possible to control that, and maybe have commands to change the contrast? Since obviously there aren't any contrast knobs.

run "sb_enail.com": This should automatically pull up "anything".

IM's: Would it be possible to have the IM's pop up like in "marzipan"?

spellchecka.exe: Usable in "e-mail mode". (While you are answering an e-mail.) Basically it would just count the number of spelling errors in the e-mail. If there was one misspelling it would say "1 spelling error found!", if there were two it would say "2 spelling errors found!", etc.

Program in BASIC?: In "2 e-mails" we got to see Strong Bad create an infinite loop of "STRONG BAD IS COOL" in BASIC. Will it be possible to do BASIC in the Compy emulator?

Too fast: Some of the error messages (like when you type a wrong command) flash on the screen too quickly.

Priviliges: There was a line at the top of the priviliges list that didn't show up.

And stuff for the Tandy:

Tape-Leg 2?: This actually applies to the Compy as well. Will you be including the e-mails in "personal favorites" that aren't actual e-mails, such as "Tape-Leg 2"?

Homestar Hair?: How would you do this e-mail? Not only is there a picture of the Hairstyle Runner to do, there's also Temple of Apshai.

Thanks for the awesome ideas.

1) I completely forgot about that, I just added it to the Beta .03
2) Print_of_it.exe - Another great idea, I'll do my best to try to add this
3) This is a coding bug in Beta .02 and was fixed in Beta .03
4) I was already planning on a "next" for this email, I already have "Baleeted!" and "Delorted!" programmed in as well on Beta .02
5) I dont remember "MATT!!"
6) I am trying to figure out a way for a random email, but I have not been successful and do not know how to code to pull up a random email.
7) This was also a coding bug in Beta .02 and was fixed in Beta .03
8) This will be programmed in once Strong Bad Email #78 is programmed into the beta (probably wont be for several betas, since once I get the whole engined programmed, then I will concentrate on programming in more emails
9) I highly doubt the IM's will pop up since this would be very hard to program in, and I highly doubt Compy will have mouse support.
10) spellchecka.exe, there will be no way to reply to the emails, you can only Delete, Baleet, Forward, and Delort them.
11) I can do the infinite loop, except I would program an interrupt in it so you can stop it. Maybe I'll turn it into an idle screen saver.
12) The error message will be soon stay on the screen, then have go back to the "a>"
13) This was fixed in Beta .03
14) Like 50 Emails, Personal Favorites (and Spring Cleaning for the Tandy) will run the same way.

Tandy Stuff: I doubt I will do this email, I might just do a Homestar_Hair thing from the main menu using a bitmap.

Incase your wondering. The Tandy Version of "Deleted!" will be "Delete That Crap"

-- Note: I am also trying to get in contact with TBC via email to let them know about this project.

2 problems:

1. I can only go to email 41

2. When I try a command other that Strongbad_email.exe, I get an error message!

Author:  Snowthrower [ Thu Dec 02, 2004 11:44 pm ]
Post subject:

1) That is the only email programmed into Beta .02
2) You must not capitalize any letters in the command. - Also, if the email is opened you can type "menu" to return to the "home screen"

Beta .03 is out,

Sorry but DaCheese or emails #43-50 were not released in this beta, but if all goes well in this beta, they will be released in the next beta.

Please read the FAQ in the ZIP file for information regarding new commands!

Remember to extract the files onto a floppy since you cant extract files in DOS.

Well, it doesn't work with DosBox (Illegal command) and I decompressed it competely, ran it in compatibility, mode, and I still get a blank screen (with a green line!).

Hmm weird. Works when I run DOS. Try running run.bat, if that doesnt work, run Compy386Demo.exe
