So... It's the fourth of July...

How has 3/4 of the day gone by with no one making a thread?

Whoa. Is it a coincidence that we used the same topic title, or was that changed?

Anyways. I was up really late last night, so I didnt wake up in time to get to the parade.

So, Happy Fireworks Day!*
Someone do us all a favour and "accidentaly" blow up Dubya and Dick with some fireworks. And then "accidentaly" shoot Dick with a hunting rifle.
Or you could just choke them with a bag of pretzels. Either one is good. Just be sure to get it on video. It would be the feel-good movie of the year.

*I'm doing this out of irony, not out of hate. Please don't hate me 'casue I'm a little clever. You could make fun of my leader too: His name is Steven Harper and he's a pinhead, so I won't mind.

Why come this thread uses Bwave's title and it says he made it and yet Ian's post comes first?

A wizard did it.

I merged them wrong. I intended to merge it into Ian's, since Ian's thread was first, but, somehow, I did it backwards.

I opened the door so Ian could walk in.

I then proceeded to walk in.

Anyway, I just got a call from my friends, who took my advice and instruction on how to make decent homemade fireworks. Of course, they are idiots, so they decided to test their rockets to make sure they work. So they went into the woods and set off their rockets. After all the rockets exploded, they realized that the only reason they made them for was for tonight, and now they dont have any.

It's always the dumb ones who waste the fun dangerous material.

So, what's the traditional celebration for 4th of July, besides the fireworks?
I suppose it varies a lot from place to place, eh?*
Tell me your stores and I'll pretend to be interested, and then I'll make fun of your spelling and grammar. And possibly your name.

It'll be just like a SBmail. :sb:

Huge BBQs, epic movies, parades, all that stuff.

4th of July is marked with celebrations of Independence. In some places, you'll get re-enactments of the signing of the Declaration, but not in every town.
For the most part, though, the day is dominated with picnics, cookouts (not barbecues... If you cook meat with high heat, you're not barbecuing. Don't believe me, ask Didymus), family reunions, parades, etc.

The city where I live has a big community celebration with cookouts, concerts, a parade, and, of course, a HUGE fireworks show (which I'm about to go watch, assuming the rain and lightning stop).

They say that downtown is the best place to view the fireworks, but I don't see how it can be. I live on a hill overlooking the city. The fireworks explode at about eye level up here (but they're about a mile away).

I like fireworks on the 4th. I mean, can you give us any better way to celebrate the independence of your country than to blow up a small part of it with something made in China?

Must.... Watch..... FIREWORKS!!!! Image

Eh, watching the fireworks is a bit overrated.

Me, I don't think I'm going to be doing anything special today... After all, nothing special has happened today yet. Then again, it's only 7:00. There's still time.

It's like I'm under attack up here.
Fireworks are going off all around me.
Add thunder and lightning to the equation and it's pretty cool. (note: some of the fireworks and all of the storms are far off, so it's hard to tell what's fireworks and what's lightning.)

I can't go outside.
A whole neighborhood of people has set off fireworks and now when I go outside I start coughing and sneezing.
Too much smoke.

Yeah, every year I try to make our family boycott the tradition of going to see the 'works. But here I am, typing away after cleaning up the giant mess in the car... *sigh*... sometimes I think I should just give up.

I just got back from a BBQ/pool party at one of my parents' friends' house. Usually I'm the only one my age at these things, which sucks because I'm too old for all the little kids but still too young for the adults. Fortunately this time I got to bring a friend of mine along.

But anyway, we did the whole fireworks thing. People all around us had been shooting them off, so we joined in. But the thing was, the dude who owned the house was hardcore with his fireworks. We had tons of those "standard backyard" fireworks, but there were just as many "real" fireworks there. Like, the ones you'd see at a professional fireworks show. It was awesome. And the second we finished our finale, like two bottle rockets next door were fired then nothing else. I think we kind of shut everyone down...

The fireworks were pretty cool. I had to go to beavercreek, which is about 15 mins from where I live. I started raining right befoore they started and about 15% through it started thunder storming. I sat in the back of my friend's car though, it was cool.

I celebrated the Fourth by working a 4:15-11pm shift :S

I have compensated for that by acheiving 1776 posts, and thereby ruining it with this here post.

Also, Awpi, Beavercreek? Where is that? I seem to recall that being close...

Yesterday evening was like being in a war zone.
There were fireworks (real ones, flashy ones) going up everywhere in the neighborhood. We had bottle rockets and sparklers.
I feel one-up'd, but it was cool to have a free show in your backyard (and frontyard).
