Sometimes I think I'm a Canadian trapped in an American's body; I took French in high school.

No, since I still speak English. And I occasionally find myself saying "soary" instead of "sorry".

Seriously, lay off them. They were one of the original 4 provinces of the Domnion of Canada.

I don't so much hate Quebec as I hate the separatists and the PQ party. Those guys are trying to blackmail the rest of us with the line "Give us more money and power or we'll hold a referendum and separate!" We shouldn't let them.
The fact is that most people in Quebec either don't want to separate, or they don't really understand the implications of such a decisions because they've been propagandized by the pro-separatist media in Quebec into thinking that after separation everything will be gumdrops and roses. Their fed the line that Quebec is somehow better than the rest of Canada and that they are a nation unto themselves.

I had a professor in college that said almost the same thing you just said, like, almost verbatim.
He was in favor of separation, though. He didn't want "those people" associated with his home country.

Also, Canadians, I must ask you something. Why does Molson freeze? It's not even that cold in my fridge. The other stuff in my fridge is just fine, but my Molson is like a beer slushy.

2) As far as why your Molson beers freeze faster, it could be a lot of reasons. Uneven cooling in your fridge, differences in alchohol content between your other beers and the Molsons (alcohol acts as an anti-freeze agent, remember?), the fact that you probably have your fridge turned up too high. Hey, if it's cold enough to make Canadian beer turn to slush, it's definitely working too hard. :mrgreen:

We drink the stuff in -30c weather out on a frozen lake while sitting in icefishing huts and it doesn't do that!

I was aware that alcohol is an anti-freeze. That's why I'm more puzzled as to how there are some non-alcohol things that didn't freeze, sitting right next to the Molson. I didn't think it was turned up too high, either. The fridge is set on 2 (higher numbers = colder on my fridge) and the "factory recommended" setting is between 3 and 4. Hmm...

Oh well, I've got it on the counter thawing out. Could it be that the Molson Canadian we buy here in the states isn't real Canadian beer?

Definitely. It's probably brewed localy under a licence from Molson rather than imported. I can find out, though. What state are you in?

I was at a barbecue on Sunday and it was pretty rad. There were lots of steaks (Alberta beef!)and fireworks. And an ice sculpture with a flag in it.

From what I was able to find out after googling around a bit, it seems that your Molsons are brewed in Milwaukee. That's not surprising, considering that Molsons merged with Coors a while back to form Molson Coors Brewing Company. If you want some real Canadian beer, import some Rickers Red, Labatt's Blue, Labbat's Lite, or Carling Black Label. There's also Moosehead, Great Western, and Alexander Keith's but you might have trouble finding them since they're not a "Major" brewery. EDIT: I forgot about Kokanee. If you can find a can or bottle of Kokanee, then it's definitely brewed in Canada: They only operate one brewery, and it's in Creston, BC. They do not licence the Kokanee label to any other brewery, US or otherwise.

It's just not so. I'm inclusive toward Quebec, not exclusive. I want them to be full partners in the Canadian nation, but I'm not prepared to give them a better deal then the other provinces get. No special treatment just because they speak French and eat Poutine. Actualy, I don't think they should be able to force anyone to learn French. French in quebec is an artificial bubble of language propped up by the Quebec government. The rest of North America speaks English (except Geroge W. Bush, who sometimes speaks in Bushisms that NOBODY understands). Hell, even most Quebecers speak English... they just won't admit it to polsters. The French Language laws in Quebec, especial the stupid sign laws, are just ridiculous. Don't speak French? Too bad! All the signs have to be in French! Run a Chinese Restaurant and want to put up a sign in Chinese? Too bad! The Quebec language police insisted that it must be in French! It says "Imported", but all of the Coors around here says it's brewed in Colorado,too (Coors is also brewed in Memphis), so I don't know if that's believable.
