I was just thinking that after March of the Penguins in 2005, there was Happy Feet in '06, and now Surf's Up in '07. There just seems to be some kind of trend to make penguin-themed movies over these past few years.

If there were to be another one in '08, what would the penguins be doing?

My prediction: 08' and 09' will be "adult" penguin movies, so they won't really come into the mass attention of the public.

Then they'll come back in 2010 with a penguin epic that fails miserably in the box office. Then everyone will be to tired of animating the damn things and we'll experience a surge of seagull movies.

This happens a lot in the movie industry, in case no one else has noticed. Similarly-themed movies come out from different studios around the same time. Armaggedon and Deep Impact. The Prestige and The Illusionist. Madagascar, The Wild, Over the Hedge, and Open Season. End of Days and Stigmata. The Black Dahlia and Hollywoodland.

Geez...I even found a Wiki page with a massive list of this stuff.

Yep. Happens ALL the time...

C'mon, people! It'll be like Die Hard, the Matrix, Back to the Future, The Godfather I and II(III sucked), Kill Bill, a Bruce-Lee wirefight movie, and Pirates of the Caribbean/Return of the King/Narnia's last scene/ some other epic battle!

....with penguins...

(well, now I have a premise, title, and a tagline. add jack nicholson as the main character, some mind-numbing 2 years to "make" CGI stunts, controversial planned star dating that could stop a sequel, a director, and matt damon and we're all good)

I, for one, am appalled to see this recent trend of flightless, a-quatic aves take hold right here in our own American movie theatures. What will our children think of such lewd, on screen, Sphenisciforme, behaviour? How is it telling them to act? What is it telling them to do? As if popculture was not vile, immoral, and indecent as is, they allow this filth to show!

I wouldn't put March of the Penguins in the same category as the animated penguin movies. Yes, they're both about penguins, but the points of the movies are completely different.

Well, we already had Farce of the Penguins come out this year.

And because, if you look at what Hollywood typically puts out, it IS rather original by comparison....I think. Does anyone know if this is adapted from a book or anything? It seems like EVERY major movie nowadays is a sequel, prequel, remake, or adaptation of a TV show/play/book/comic series/theme park ride.

I totally wouldn't have ever heard of that if you hadn't mentioned it.

Now I must find this film and view it.

It's Johnny Tsunami with Penguins. And Shia LeBuff is wasting valuable Transformers time doing a voice on that movie. Just when I thought he had crawled out of the Disney Channel shadow, he is in an even worse movie.

Not neccessarily. Holes was good despite him. Didn't see Disturbia, don't plan to. As for Even Stevens...(here's the ellipses, get ready for some long discussion...)

The show started out terrible. Louis was supposed to be a relatively normal kid who learned a life lesson on each episode. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Then it started getting into more random humor, about Louis and Twitty being less normal and with some plotlines not actually possible in the real world. Then, for some reason, at the end, Louis turned back into a normal person, even a person trying to be mature. The show tanked after that. But it had a few good episodes at one point...

Anyway, I'm afraid we got us one of these...

Hey, there are worse shows I could have watched. say, South Park *ducks*

Or, if you want something less controversial, ANYTHING else on Disney Channel besides The Famous Jett Jackson or the pre-movie Kim Possible would be worse than Even Stevens. It certainly wasn't as bad as anything they have now. Okay, maybe I did have a deprived pre-teen youth. But there was nothing good for that age group to watch then, nor is there now.

Thread tl;dr, Disney Channel Sucks, Hollywood needs to stop following trends and do better stuff.
