This kids, is a thread for you to rant and complain about terrible endings to things (video games, movies, you get it).

Terrible Ending 1: Saint's Row. So it's about 1:30 AM Pacific, and I start the final mission. Actually, its more like a cutscene. Wanna know what happens? You get on a boat, and it blows up. Roll credits. It was bad.

Terrible Ending 2: Jericho. They just left it at a cliffhanger, and there isn't gonna be another season. I swear, Sci-Fi or something better pick it up, I NEED MORE POST-APOCALYPTIC ACTION/DRAMA.

Messenger, by Lois Lowry. It came so quickly and abruptly ended so many good plot lines. Very disappointing.

If memory serves me right, I'm pretty sure no one in the town knew that he saved them, and Link left because he has to be all mysterious.

Man, Silent Hill 4 Endings are lame.

Halo 2.

"Hey, let's not resolve anything! Be sure to buy Halo 3 when it comes out on a totally new console!"

I was not happy with Halo that day.

Hey if they resolved it there, then they would not have been able to make a Halo 3!

You know what ending sucks? Dead Rising's endings.
First off, a Dead Rising 2 isnt possible from half of the endings, you die in most of the endings, Isabella dies in every other ending, and in one you get blown up by a crazed Columbian man.

Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Mans Chest.

It wasn't a bad ending, it was just disappointing. The movie ended in a weirdly, having a really big cliffhanger. Everyone said "Wha?"

It was comforting to know that the 3rd movie was being produced already while we watched it. The Wikipedia article said it was coming out in May. I didn't think it was serious...

Hopefully, the third installment will not end with a cliffhanger, and shall tie up everything the third movie could not fit into it's 2 and a half hour length.

Uh, not exactly. Plenty of sequels can stand on their own without being entirely dependent on their predecessor having a cliffhanger ending.

Hear, hear! Did you stay after the credits? Waste of time.

Tons of games have several sequals, and many have coherent stories like Halo. But Halo is the only series that has stupid resolve-nothing endings.

Oh, and Halo one had a pretty sucky ending. I mean, the explosion that blew up the ring. It didn't even destroy the ring, it just broke it into several smaller pieces.

I was almost sure that was what Halo 2 was going to be about, hunting down the ring pieces and finished off the flood.

Without the Halo full, it couldnt fire its primary weapon and destroy everything but the Flood. Leaving only a small part of it left kept its main systems inactive and left only the atmosphere and whatever part of the surface that survived. Introducing a second Halo into the universe is what allowed a second game to be produced. Without it, all you would have is mindless killing with no story.
Halo 1 didnt have a cliffhanger ending, it left it on a "well, make this game popular and we will continue the story" type ending. Since sales showed people wanted a Halo2, they continued the story, and seeing as to how much Halo2 was anticipated, they left it with a cliffhanger so they can make a third one to make more cash and give people what they want.

Animorphs. A few years after the war with the Yeerks, halfway through the last book, Ax randomly gets captured by random aliens, so the other Animorphs band together again to rescue him. Except Cassie, because Jake's still in love with her even though they broke up, or something.

So they go into space, find Ax, who's been possessed by some alien never alluded to before in any of the books, and Jake says to ram the ship Ax is on. There it just ends. The author said that she wanted the Animorphs to go out the way they came in: Fighting. But they didn't come in fighting, they came in hiding from Visser Three so that he wouldn't morph into a monster and eat them.

What I'm trying to say is, I'm okay with Rachel being killed off, Tom being killed off, Jake being depressed, and all that stuff. But I'm not okay with the random cliffhanger ending.

I'm not okay with book #37, either, but that's not an ending so I can't whine about it here.

blaaaaaaah

I never said anything about the Halo firing, I said that I thought Halo 2 would be about hunting down the broken pieces of the Halo to kill the remaining flood.

Personally, I hated the last book in the Series of Unfortunate Events. It left so many questions unanswered. Letters from Beatrice, which was like a follow-up miniseries, didn't help clear anything up. It only alienated me further. I'd been waiting so long to get the last book so I could figure out the mysteries once and for all, but I was sorely disappointed. I'm ashamed of you, Daniel Handler.

At least the author warned the readers at the start of the book. Also, I was warned about it by my sister.

The ring fragments broke off from the main ring, causing them to Leave the rings Artificial Atmosphere, Thus killing any living thing on those fragments. The part that was left in-tact had some flood on it, but it wasn't possible for them to escape because noone is gonna send a ship to it to find survivors. It makes more sense having Master Chief come home only to have to fend off an attack from the Covenant and getting dumped into more trouble, rather than him coming home, telling the general whats what and then going home to sit in a recliner, eat Chips and watch TV 24 hours straight.

Seriously.

I thought the latest Spidey ending was lacking.

also, in terms of games, the ending of Liberty City Stories was lacking. Basically, the don cheats you and you only get half the money you expected for saving him, the mayor, and taking out a helicopter with four gunmen blowing you to pieces.

yay

What I don't get is that if you are killed, it sends you back to the beginning, but no matter what choice you make, you're immediately killed twice more.

I just finished The End yesterday, and I was a little disappointed, but I'm thinking that Handler probably put some things referencing future books in some of the earlier ones, which may answer a few questions.

Beatrice is the Baudelaire children's mom, if you didn't get that.

That's only one of the mysteries, though. There's a lot left unanswered.

I could've sworn we were told the mom's name, though. Guess not, since I didn't know it was Beatrice 'til I finished the book.
