The title is self explanatory. A place to discuss all things They Might Be Giants. A thread like this may exist somewhere, but I'm not going to look through all 60 something pages looking for it. OK now (self toastpaints) I got to go to one of their free concerts in February and it was really awesome. Videos from it are below. The guy who filmed them was like 10 feet away from me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArkSE_ICfvo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlIoTmKQggA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HRNEKhNXgY |

Yeah I might get to go see them soon. I'm a relatively new fan, but I love them so much. TMBG = SEX |

I'm totally claiming this awesome thread in the name of me. Not really. I'm just happy it exists. |

I'm Anna Nickel, and I approve this thread. Seriously. TMBG are amazing. And...you KNOW how Tess and I feel about John Linnell.
Best album = John Henry. |

Apparently Mum isn't letting me get the album both times, on iTunes and CD. Since she said that I've been contemplating the most effective way to rid someone of any anti-TMBG demons that might be possessing them. Overexposure to TMBG doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestions? Also, I recieved the following email from Rachael this morning: 'Extra Extra they might be giants sux Extra extra mcr, afi, and 30stm rule' I've really got nothing to say in response to this that doesn't involve a screaming rage of fury. Wow. That sounds like some kind of video game character's special attack. It's like, Battle of the Band Fangirls. That game had better be made or I'm gonna be hurting someone. |

If I wasn't such a weakling, this would have been done five years ago. Verbal abuse doesn't work either. She's so amazingly unintelligent that anything I say flies right through her empty skull. |

LIVE FROM PORPLEMONTAGE STUDIOS! (sorta) LUCAS WAGNER APPROVES! Lucas wrote: NEW ALBUM FROM THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS!
My radio connections landed me an advance copy, and it's awesome. Awesome awesome awesome awesome. Ahem. On the whole, it's a very good album; you can definitely hear where the Dust Brothers have done their magic on it, but it still remains a wholly John & John (& Dan & Dan & Marty) work. An interesting note: unlike many albums you may find in stores today, there's no real standout single; rather, it's more like a complete work of music. Every song is good, and could easily be listened to for hours on end. THE GOOD: Every song on the album is great. The Dust Brothers touch makes the album even more great. Better than The Spine and Mink Car put together. Stylophones. Horn sections. No podcast recyclees (except Contrecoup)! THE BAD: No "hit singles". We've heard Contrecoup before (even though it's been added on to/revised). If you don't have iTunes, you're stuck waiting until July. SOUNDS LIKE: John Henry on steroids, or like The Spine with all the suck drained out and more good put in. IF THIS WERE A FOOD IT WOULD BE: That Wonder bread they keep advertising where every slice is just as good. YOU WILL NOT LIKE THIS IF: you wish TMBG would go back to the Pink Album/Lincoln/Flood era. Or if you hate Them. IF I HAD TO PICK JUST ONE SONG: I'm Impressed. NUMERICAL RATING TIME: 9 of 10. It's not the holy grail of TMBG albums, but it's pretty damn close. |

Sigh. Their new album comes out on iTunes on my birthday, but I don't want no stinky DRM'ed-up album! So I gotta wait. |

I actually like Factory Showroom the best. In my opinion that album is pure TMBGenius. That album has no songs that I dislike, and if I start to listen to it, I can't stop in the middle of the album. Factory Showroom shows that they really are might be giants. |

I don't have Factory Showroom yet, although I have been told that it's awesome and that I should get it. Ah, but if only it was that easy. Apart from the fact that Their albums are insanely hard to find over here, I'm a student and therefore broke. It's as if the world's conspiring against me. CURSE YOU, WORLD! LET ME HAVE MY TEE EM BEE GEE! I'm sorry. Rant's over now. |

Right now my current playlist is all my TMBG stuff in one giant playlist, with random on. I downloaded the Atlanta show (I can fan over Homestar and TMBG all in one place!) and mixed that with a whole lotta other songs I got off eMusic. I'm a Flansy girl, myself. The CD comes out mere days before my birthday, but I'm going to want to get it ON THE RELEASE DAY. Because if I don't, I may not get that bonus CD. I'm actually writing a novel about a boy who's obsessed with Them. It's very fun to do, because I get to do all kinds of TMBG-related research. |

Me neither, but I think Flansburgundy needs to get way more credit. And fangirls. Also, TMBG are the rock. I'm probably going to get their new album soon. Mandy said she'd wait until the CD, but I CAN'T DO THAT. Even though I want all those podcast favorites, I simply cannot wait. No, no, nooooo. I just CAN'T! D= |

...yeah. I thought about this for [s]five minutes[/s] ages and I've decided to [s]copy you[/s] go with John Henry. There's just so much awesome in that album. Mink Car was a pretty close second, though. |

JH happens to be my least favorite album *ducks frying pan Mandy throws at him*. I mean, John Henry's a good album with some of my favorite songs, but I just can't ever listen to all of it in one sitting. Same thing with Mink Car, although that's a bit of a... controversial opinion. >_> As for my favorite one, I can never decide. My favorite song/album by Them is usually something I am unsure of. Whenever I am sure of what my favorite song/album is, it always changes within a week or so, so it's sort of hard to say. XD |

I really have nothing to contribute to this conversation. I don't really listen to them that much, though I'm starting to more. |
