So do I. Never actually owned a sword in real life, though I know some people who do.

Sure. I like swords... but what exactly should we be talking about here?
I like Final Fantasy.

You know what has always bugged me? When sword enthusiasts care about the material a sword is made out of too much.

Like I found a bunch of final fantasy swords online, and one of my friends said "No, man, those are fake." My reply was something like "Are you ****ing retarded? A sword is a long thin peice of metal. These are long thin peices of metal. What is the difference?" He replied "It isnt treated properly. It would break if you fought with it.".

I didnt answer, I just smacked him. If you are stupid enough to think that anyone is going to buy a decorational sword to fight with, then you deserve a good smack.

Anyways, this guy is also retarded.

Truth.

eBay is often full of novelty swords like the master sword and the masamune (Sephiroth).

I also saw squall's gunblade go online somewhere once.

Crazy, I mean, I'd look into Leon's sword, but Sephiroth?

Sephiroth? Now that'd be an awesome sword to have. Though, it is like, 6 feet long.

I've been trying to coax my dad into lending me $50 for a replica Master Sword. Hasn't worked, though.

But I also like S-words.

I'm partial to longswords. Such as the Master Sword. And I've convinced my dad to hire a professional blacksmith to make me a functioning Master Sword when I graduate from high school.

Functioning? Why not just buy a replica one on eBay? They look exactly the same, but cost less. It's not like you are going to be fighting anyone with your master sword anyway.

It just has a better feeling when you have a blacksmith make it.

Anyway swords are cool, especially when dual-wielded.

People would do well not to buy the hype about real, battle-ready swords. Much like guns and airplanes, the ones that are made for actually getting the job done tend to look very utilitarian and plan, boring even, and they're extremely difficult to actually take anywhere to show-and-tell.

Replicas and higher-end costume swords can be taken to conventions and are useful for cosplay and can be fun at parties and, perhaps most importantly, aren't as likely to get you turned away from said venues or (if you're really lucky) arrested.

But, hey, if you want to pay hundreds of dollars extra for the privilage of hacking at watermelons in the privacy of your own home (only), that's definitely up to you.

Not true. Real swords can be quite ornate. And I'm pretty sure the police aren't gonna be happy if you're lugging around any kind of sword, battle-ready or not.

I got it for christmas a few years ago. The hilt is in really bad shape by now, but it still looks cool.

A measly sword? Son, let me tell you of a special gift I received one Christmas for no price at all...

One fateful Christmas eve, I was walking down the street. In the front yard of the reclusive, creepy old guy (there seem to be a lot of them), I spotted a nuclear silo.

Now, most people don't just walk past a nuclear silo without noticing it. I come up to this geezer's front door, and he's like, "WHAT?" and I'm like, "Hey, you've got a nuclear silo on your front yard."

After that, we stared at each other for a while. A reddish beam came out of his eyes, and eventually burned a hole in my flesh. So I'm like, "Hey, you've got laser eyes!" We continued to stare. Eventually, my brain was getting bombarded pretty badly, so I walk away. Turns out that I should've looked where I was going, 'cause wouldn't you know it, I bumped into the Conveniently Located Button (c).

Soon afterwards, the nuclear missile launched straight into the air. The rocket flames singed exactly three-quarters of my left eyebrow. And the guy gets all crazy-like, and he says, "Hey, punk! That missile was part of my plans for world domination!" Then the missile landed in Greenland, instantly melting the continent's massive layer of ice, and eventually putting a large portion of cities near bodies of water underwater.

swords are nice too.

This is a sword-ed discussion! *ducks from resulitng rotten vegetables thrown my direction*

Anyway, I knew I guy who did authentic blacksmithing. He was awesome. I also know a few people with actual "swords", in that they are made out of metal, but I just have plastic ones. :( And they both broke. (It was funny, though, when my cheap Sting sword broke--we had made a 7-foot tall snowman and left it overnight, and unbeknownst to us it completely froze. So my brother is about to slay the beast, and he jabs the sword into the snowman, and it completely shatters on itself, like a scene from Smallville.)
