Any emos? I've realized that I'm an emo inside, so I'm embracing it. I just got done giving myself emo bangs and I'm going to get an emo haircut as soon as my hair grows out long enough. I'm also going to start wearing wristbands and band shirts like Comeback Kid and Norma Jean, and the next pair of shoes I'm going to get are Chuck Taylor All-Stars. Who says all emos are sad? I've never been happier since I've discovered the emo inside of me! |

Pretty much any emo won't tell you they're emo. They'll tell you that they're unclassifiable. I'm with duecex. |

I describe myself as emo sometimes, but I'm not sure what the term actually means. I'm listening to My Chemical Romance right now. Does that count? By the way, people cut themselves as a way with dealing with emotional pain, not neccessarily because they're emo. Not all cutters are emo, and not all emos are cutters. |

'Tis a joke. Like saying, "I wish my grass was emo, so it would cut itself." A joke of a stereotype. |

I'm emo. I don't got the look, but I pwn you all in emotude. However, I think emo as a noun (as in "he's an emo") is the stupidest thing ever. It's an adjective, peoples. Don't make me slap you. |

mcr is too mainstream, theyre not emo. emo music is like bands that no one has heard of and its like a specific genre. |

One of the definitions of emo music is that it's not popular? Is that really a good way to define a genre? I'm not making fun of it, I'm just curious. |

No. It is a very stupid way to define a genre. As won't surprise you, Wikipedia has a very comprehensive article on the genre. Personally, I would classify My Chemical Romance as emo. Certainly the emo-est band on mainstream radio today. They're decent, but I'm not a big fan. I kick it old school. Saves the Day. Taking Back Sunday. The Get Up Kids. The Starting Line. Mmm. |

Do you have to be happy about it? You're just stereotyping yourself. I think you like what you like, and enjoy liking it with others. And by the way, I have an emo-haircut. And I'm... how would you call it.. preppy

What I kind of hate the most is how emo is synonymous with cutter, and vice-versa. The way I see it, society's view on expressing dark thoughts is very frowned upon, so it gets bottled up and it manifests into hurting physically. So, if these social walls were destroyed, then maybe not so many people would cut or something. But there are way too many judgmental people who thinks one thing is an absolute truth, like "African Americans killing themselves by shooting" when it couldn't be farther from it. And most of mainstream society is pretty shallow when it comes right down to it, and will believe anything their friends believe because they want to believe what their friends believe, and etc. |

Well, I have no friends to talk about my depression with, but I don't cut. I sometimes feel like dying, but no cutting. |

Chucks are Emo? When did this happen? I just thought they were cool because they were Chucks, like me, not because of some affiliation with a "click". Now I don't know what to think. |

"Emo" is just a term for anyone that wears black, straightens their hair, wears gauges, etc. There are actual people who have depression and suicide issues, and it makes me mad when I see people steryotyping anyone who fits any of the aforementioned criteria as "emo". Also, I can assure you Mini Moose, that NONE of the bands you listed are Emo. Bands like Matchbook Romance are emo. Go look at their lyrics. |

Lulz yew spelled clique rong. Maybe I was reffering to the sound. Don't assume you know everything that's on my mind! God! I guess I'll just cry myself to sleep whilst listening to "Wish you Were Here" again. I realize that joke may have come off as a bit forced. |
