We all know May's full of awesome holidays. There's the forum's Forumday, there's Wacking day, and, um, there's... Teffday. But most important, or at least equally important, I feel, is Towel Day.

Towel Day is exactly what it sounds like: you carry a towel around as a tribute to Douglas Adams. That's it. Sounds awesome, doesn't it? Here's the official website, in case you were wondering what May 25 has to do with anything (here's the answer: it doesn't) or something like that.

Me? I'll probably wear my towel like a cape.

How did I not know about this?

I'm definitely sporting a towel that day.

This reminds me of the book one of my friends had; "Everyday is a holiday". It was a list of all the crappy (real) special days, like turnip day and omlete day.

All questions about refunding a birthday aside... Well, if you're a "Home Movies" fan, May 25 is also the day Brendon's dad married Linda. We never even found out the name of their kid, at the end of the season...

Come to think of it, a towel would make a good wedding dress train...

Towel Day. I think that is the best holiday ever. Sorry Christmas, you've been replaced.

I haven't read/seen it... but it sounds cool, and like something that will provoke people into asking what I'm doing, so okay.

READ IT. READ IT AND REALIZE THAT IF RYA AND MARVIN MET, THEY'D GET MARRIED AND HAVE MANY SUICIDALLY DEPRESSED CHILDREN.

...Or not.

Anyway, I'll totally celebrate.

The rat tails will be flying on this day. If you see me with a towel, run. I whip people so well, I make dungeonmasters jealous.

We should have a thread announcing strange holidays each day.

Unless it is APB'D.

Funky, topofsm, prime time: Girls are Pretty is what you're looking for.

But really, this isn't some random holiday. This is for Douglas Adams.

Aww, man. Towel day is two days after I get out of school! I was gonna get a legion of friends to bring one, too...Would it be permissible to celebrate Towel Day two or three days early? Or would the spirit of Douglas Adams come and kill me in my sleep if I did such a thing?

YES. By all means, carry a towel around whatever day you would like. You're really supposed to have your towel with you, or at least know where it is, at all times.

Everyone who thinks they'll forget: you won't. I won't let you.

edit: I found another awesome May holiday today. The first Friday every May is No Pants Day. I don't make the news, I just spread the word.

HEY! I read enough of Hitchhiker's to actually get it! Hoorah!

Am I gonna do the towel thing? Well, if I were surrounded by well-read people who might actually get it, yes. But as it is, I live in Hawaii.

So no.
