So... Nine Inch Nails is coming out with a new album scheduled to be released April 20th. It's going to be called Year Zero. Now unless you listen to Nine Inch Nails, you're probably thinking, "Oh, topofsm's ranting about some new album again". But this is a concept album with a deep entangled mystery.

Trent Reznor (frontman of NIN) has created a viral marketing strategy to show the new album. There are multiple websites linked together through clues in the sites that give more and more depth to the story with every page.

The storyline: In about 2009, a large amount of bio-terrorism is causing panic in America. The Government puts a drug (parepin) into drinking water that supposedly boosts the immune system causing people to be more resistent to bio-chemicals. But there are multiple side-effects, so much that people start to protest. There are so many parts of the story that it all goes over my head how they peice together.

I don't know how much you guys care about this, but I think it's pretty cool. I've already pre-ordered the album and everything. I just don't think I can wait a month.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but that's what every NIN album is.

As for the teaser, it looks a typical Reznor idea. It is not freaky, in my opinion, creative but not freaky.

You think I don't know that? I meant compared to the other albums I've talked about, not compared to the other NIN albums.

Just seems like an ARG without a prize. Stuff like this pops up every now and then. It's usually the best when it isnt a marketing ploy.

I might agree except that I just saw him in concert (ok, like 2 years ago right after With Teeth came out)... after seeing him live I can honestly say that he hasn't lost anything. :) It's not Pretty Hate Machine or Downward Spiral, but he is still Trent Reznor, and he still rocks.

I'm excited for the new album. I really hope that he makes a stop by Salt Lake sometime.
