Break out your green and get plastered, St. Patty's Day is upon us. I've got my Guinness so I am a happy man.

Syracuse is all set for St. Patty's Day. The parade route is set, the green beer is on it's was to Tipperary Hill and they have painted the giant shamrock in front of Coleman's Irish Pub.

I am currently wearing a green t-shirt (says Cut Class, Not Frogs), a green blazer with a leprechaun pin on it, green camo pants, my green sneakers, three green bracelets, and green hoop earrings.

It's too bad my green socks are in the wash. Shoulda planned ahead.

Yep. It's weird, cause even though it's St. Paddy's tomorrow, a lot of people wore green stuff today.

I'll be prepared for the green excess of stuff.

Hey, anywhere that there are Irish people (and other Catholics), there's St. Paddy's Day.

I wore my St. Paddy's Day SpongeBob shirt today, & tomorrow I'm breaking out this again:

Putting newspaper in it keeps it up.

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through the belief in the threeness,
Through confession of the oneness
Of the Creator of Creation.

I arise today
Through the strength of Christ's birth with his baptism,
Through the strength of his crucifixion with his burial,
Through the strength of his resurrection with his ascension,
Through the strength of his descent for the judgment of Doom.

I arise today
Through the strength of the love of Cherubim,
In obedience of angels,
In the service of archangels,
In hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
In prayers of patriarchs,
In predictions of prophets,
In preaching of apostles,
In faith of confessors,
In innocence of holy virgins,
In deeds of righteous men.

I arise today
Through the strength of heaven:
Light of sun,
Radiance of moon,
Splendor of fire,
Speed of lightning,
Swiftness of wind,
Depth of sea,
Stability of earth,
Firmness of rock.

I arise today
Through God's strength to pilot me:
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me,
God's hand to guard me,
God's way to lie before me,
God's shield to protect me,
God's host to save me
From snares of devils,
From temptations of vices,
From everyone who shall wish me ill,
Afar and anear,
Alone and in multitude.

I summon today all these powers between me and those evils,
Against every cruel merciless power that may oppose my body and soul,
Against incantations of false prophets,
Against black laws of pagandom
Against false laws of heretics,
Against craft of idolatry,
Against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,
Against every knowledge that corrupts man's body and soul.

Christ to shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,
So that there may come to me abundance of reward.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the threeness,
Through confession of the oneness,
Of the Creator of Creation.

- St. Patrick of Ireland

I was there when they painted the shamrock. A 32 year tradition. Good times.

What's the point of Green Beer? Why can't you just appreciate a fine Irish ale, instead of adding food coloring to watered-down American swill?

Tip: Do not attempt to color milk green. It comes out in more of a pastel shade.

We plan to spend today listening to Flogging Molly and eating green things.

(We had green waffles for breakfast. Yum!)

I don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day. I celebrate St. Sneaky Pete's day.

Which reminds me...

I had green french toast for breakfast.

You know, St. Patrick's Day reminds me of how I'm not one bit Irish.

I've always liked St. Patrick's Day, as I'm like...75% Irish. Pretty cool holiday, though I wish I could do more with it.

When I'm older I'm gonna go up to Boston to celebrate. Lot's of Irish people getting their pride on up there.

Lol, rant time. I hate this "Holiday". What's it supposed to be celebrating? Drinking beer and eating corned beef? Pretending to be Irish? I just don't get it. Oh, currently I'm wearing a black shirt and a pair of jeans.

The holiday is a time to celebrate Irish heritage and pride. It's like any other holiday where people celebrate their nationality and heritage. It's not about drinking, that's just the American stereotype.

Read, or feel free to remain ignorant.

Nah, I'll remain ignorant. I already read it. I mean, I can understand Irish pride, but don't you think people take it too far? I mean, EVERYONE tries to join up on it. If its for Irish pride, then I think that only IRISH people should celebrate it. I mean, you don't see Christians celebrating Hanukkah, do ya?

Oh, and, well I sorta live in America, so thats the perspective I have of it.

I live in America too, and I celebrate it because I'm Irish. I don't really see everyone trying to join up in it, but I will say up in Boston, there are a lot of Irish people, so basically the whole city gets into it.

Whatever, though. You don't have to celebrate it.

St. Patricks day originated as a catholic holiday, to celebrate the great saint, Patrick (no surprise there). So have fun with the liddle people taday!!!

Well Scots are Celts, too, but they like St. Andrew better than St. Patrick.

Yeah, but I never see anyone celebrate St. Andrew's Day on November 30, the day after my birthday. I do have a Saltire flag hanging in my room, though.

A sedate St Paddy's for me. Took a neice and nephew up to the Dublin parade, so no drinkin'. :( Well, they enjoyed it anyway.

p.s. Thanx for the ecard, Christopher Zysk. :)
