This movie really speaks to me. After I played Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem I kept seeing 333. It was scaring the heck out of me.

In March (third month), 2003, my cat woke me up for 3 days in a row at 3:33.

And at the basketball game I went to the end of the day, a player scored 3 points, and the clock stopped at 0.33

I was almost sure I was going to die that night or something. Too many Coincidences.

hmm, that's creepy.

I really can't see Jim Carrey in this role, but I'm sure he can pull it off.

It looks pretty cool, my lucky number is 128, which is one of the most random numbers I can think of. Jim Carrey seems like the most unusual actor choice for this though, but he does look convincing in the previews.

This movie is fictional.

That site debunks theories thought to be real.

There's a difference.

There's a difference.

It wasn't aimed towards the movie.

But it's the same basic concept: a number that re-occurs a lot on one subject. In the movie, it's Carrey's characters life adding up to 23. On the website, it's information about 9/11 adding up to a number.

(woosh?)

When I first saw that Jim Carrey was going to star in this movie, I was thinking "wtf?"

I suppose it could be good. Kind of freaks me out, though.

I really want to go see this. I've had one of these coincedences before, but with the number 18. It's really freaky... :eek:

Great, well I didn't add random numbers and stupid crap like that. The Number 333 kept showing up everywhere.

Dr. Pepper would be a great product placement for that movie. It says on the can "23 Ingredients" or something like that.

EDIT: The 24 topic is currently one space away from this one...
24-1=23

Here's something that angers me about this.

A lot of those ads say "OMG 2/3= .666!!!!"

Well, no, 2/3 doesn't equal .666. It equals .66666666666666666666666666666666 and so on infinitely.

And therefore it contains an infinity of the number 666.

My sister's doesn't like the concept of this movie, because her favorite number is 23 (Symbolizes something that happened on the 23rd of some month, I think)

Hey, I just noticed that the 23 thread was just below the thread about 24. COINCIDERIFFIC! XD

Now it will be on top of it though. WHOOPS.

EDIT: Oh, and don't forget: Dr. Pepper has 23 flavors! :p

I was hoping this was going to be based on Illuminatus! I'm not disappointed though, as this looks cool. I like numerology, and this kind of has a House of Leaves feel to it too, with the book containing hidden massages and all that.

I liked when he said the Hiroshima bomb was dropped at 8:15 and that equals 23. Those are three of the Lost numbers.

Funny that you think that random, as 128 is seen so much in the mathematical and technological world, being a power of 2 (2^7, actually). Hence why we see 128MB RAM modules and other such things in technology. And Jim Carrey's pulled off serious roles before. "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," anyone?

I think the movie Pi said it best in regarding numerology: "Hold on. You have to slow down. You're losing it. You have to take a breath. Listen to yourself. You're connecting a computer bug I had with a computer bug you might have had and some religious hogwash. You want to find the number 216 in the world, you will be able to find it everywhere. 216 steps from a mere street corner to your front door. 216 seconds you spend riding on the elevator. When your mind becomes obsessed with anything, you will filter everything else out and find that thing everywhere...As soon as you discard scientific rigor, you're no longer a mathematician, you're a numerologist." (Funny that 216 is also not so random a number, as it's 6 cubed, or 6x6x6.)

Yes, this movie is just a movie, but it's based on real beliefs. Many people, including some famous people (such as early 20th Century composer Alban Berg), believed wholeheartedly in The 23 Enigma.

Anyway, this seems kinda rediculous. People can find coincidences like this everywhere, if they want to.

Does that count as dangerousishly premature?

My lucky number is 42. No surprise there. :P

Other numbers of significance: 16, 67, 69, 79, 218, 234, 318, 412, and 418. Some are obvious. Most are not.

I was born on November 13, 1980...
1+1+1+3+1+9+8+0= 24

24 > 23

You all lose. Good day, sirs.

9 is more magical than any other number.

9x1=9
9x2=18, 8+1=9
9x3=27 2+7=9
...
9x1234=11106 1+1+1+0+6=9
9x2222=19998 1+9+9+9+8=36 3+6=9
Try it with any integer times 9.

Like PMG said, people can find any number a lot of times if that's all they're looking for.

Pity that you'll never be able to try that number in any casino or lottery... EVER
I feel your pain. My lucky number is the square root of 17.

Why not? I know a dude (or at least know OF a dude) named 2. Seriously. That's his name. 2.

Oh, and my favorite number? Either pi (3.14159...) or the golden ratio (1.618033989...).

2? I know of a many kids named "Tou" or "Tu" that sounds like 2. It's a pretty common Asian name I think.

I know of a kid named "RecordingStudio".

Nope, I mean 2, as in the Arabic numeral. I'm kinda surprised you haven't heard of him, actually...his site is here (WARNING: ADULT LANGUAGE AND MATURE SUBJECT MATTER).
