Perhaps it says something about me, or the Academy, or both, but I've only seen Little Miss Sunshine, Pursuit of Happiness, Cars, and Flags of Our Fathers.

Little Miss Sunshine is a cute movie, but I don't see it as "Film of the Year." It IS pretty funny, though.

Come on, Peter O'Toole! I didn't see that film, but come on anyway!

In fact - whoa - the only films there that I did see are "Flags of Our Fathers" and "Children of Men". I have to go to the cinema more.

I'll admit that I haven't seen Borat, but I don't see how it could be up for ANYTHING except "Crappiest 'fish out of water' type comedy ever".

Unless the Borat in the movie is a lot better than his character in Da Ali G Show, I am afraid that seeing the movie would reduce my IQ by a fairly significant amount.

Yeah most probably, I hear he made a great Idi Amin (I must see that film soon). But Peter was born just up the road from me, so gotta support the local boy.

The only movie I've seen from that list is United 93 (I'm not much of a movie watcher). It did have good directing, so I'm rooting for it.

i want Little Miss Sunshine to do well. most of the movies up there are boring and overwrought and way too "dramatic". but movies in general aren't very good, in my opinion, so the oscars are more like the "less bad festival" to me.

The only films on that list that I have watched in their entirety are Cars, Monster House, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, and Click.

Yeah, I don't really go to the Oscar-winning films. :p

While I'm glad that there are five songs this year (as compared to last years dismal three) nominated for best song, I'd be happier if three of them weren't from Dreamgirls. For one thing, it doesn't seem right that more than one song from a film can get nominated, but it also leads to Nomination Inflation. I mean, now Dreamgirls can go around saying it has 8 nominations, but three are in the same category!
Also, I was hoping that one of Ben Fold's songs from Over the Hedge would make it.

From what I've seen, it looks like Borat is WAY better in the movie than he ever was on Da Ali G Show. It's either that or Ali G was so hilarious on the show that it makes you overlook Borat. I want to see the movie really badly though, because despite what you think, to me it looks absolutely hilarious.

As for the Oscars, if The Departed doesn't win Best Movie and Scorsese doesn't win Best Director, something is wrong with the world.

The only category I care about in the best animated film, so I'm rooting for Cars or Monster House. Happy Feet had a lot wrong with it.

I'm dissapointed that Abigail Breslin didn't win best supporting actress. I love her. She could totally kick dakota's butt.

I'm pretty bad about movies so i haven't seen most of these. But I'm glad that Alan Arkin won for Little Miss Sunshine. And Forest Whitaker seems awesome, also. Good for Scoresese, but I'm still bored out of my mind by the animated films. And Happy Feet, on top of that? That movie was seriously the dumbest thing i never saw. ROBIN WILLIAMS FAILS AT EVERYTHING.

erm, anyway. I'm happy for gore, too. And i suppose this means i need to get my butt in gear and see The Departed.

Conspiracy theory time: They picked "not Pixar" with Happy Feet because Pixar pwns every year. At least that's what my fiance says.

Everytime I saw an award with something in it that was foreign, the foreign thing won. Pirates got nominated twice. Pan's Labryinth won both of those times.

And then Pixar got beaten out by "The Dutch Poet"(yes they made Lifted).

also since when was Happy Feet ever a good movie?

Three 6 Mafia is a better example.

Oh, come now. You knew An Inconvenient Truth would crush the opposition.

I didn't expect it to get best song, though. I kinda hoped "You Know My Name" from Casino Royale would be nominated, but meh.

I'm glad An Inconvenient Truth won, if for no other reason than to prove that Al Gore hasn't been wasting his time over the last few years.

I really want him to run for president again.

Gore-Obama '08!

I'm rather irked that a masterpiece like Pan's Labyrinth didn't get the award for Best Foreign Language Film. It's great that it got the awards that it got...but they needed to recognize that it was brilliant as an overall film, too.

I liked Monster House and it had a good story, but Pixar just wins altogether.

plus I heard Tim Burton was making a movie with them. That makes you interested, no?
