I... actually think it's sorta cute XD Though I can see how those baby cutout things could be a bit creepy.

I actually don't mind most little kids shows but for some reason I can't stand to watch Dora the Explorer for more than five seconds. X_x I think it's the voices. Do they really HAVE to scream every single line at the top of their lungs like that?!? Little kids aren't deaf or stupid, you know!

The Nick Jr. shows when *I* was little were the best. Back when they had David the Gnome, and Noozles, and... whatever that other cartoon about koalas was called. And Today's Special! That was totally my favorite show as a kid, it had talking department store mannequins and a MIME! XD

Woah, that is waaaay eerie. XD I remember David the Gnome! David the Gnome was awesome... and the Noozles! And Muppet Babies, oh, Muppet Babies was AWESOME. Dora is by FAR the most annoying "long lasting" kids' show around. It was better when she lived in a computer.

I have a giant tape full of like, eleven episodes of Rupert, my mum used to tape a whole lot of shows for us, I don't really remember why.

That is the best show EVER! Um... You were talking about the little white bear with a red sweater and yellow checked pants and scarf, right?

Don't even get me started on Dora. i could make a ten-page long rant about it in all caps(GAUGH WHY IS DORA TEAMING UP WITH SWIPER SWIPER'S A BAD GUY WHY SHOULD HE CARE ABOUT FRIENDSHIP DAY HE HAS NO FRIENDS ANYWAYS NEEDS NONE HE'S A MAN OF THE LAND OR FOX OR WHATEVER) that just ends up being...very random....

And those baby cut-outs don't look very cute when they're eating cake. 'SHCMOFF SCHMOFF SCHMOFF" is the...disturbing noise they make. And when they're done, they have chocolate all over their face....

I admit that I used to watch certain shows on Nick Jr. (who hasn't), but that was back when I was a kidlet. I don't remember who said it, but the following line has merit.


There are times when I find myself in someone else's house and there is a kid show on.

The agonizing pain of hitting your head repeatedly on a hard surface is nothing compared to the pain caused by being forced to listen to all those happy, high-pitched voices for hours and hours until you feel like blasting the TV to kingdom come with a 12 gauge shotgun.



I can relate. On Go, Diego, Go(the evil spawn of Dora the Explorer), there were a couple of red-eyed treefrogs on a piece of wood that was in a river headed straight towards a water fall. They were happily singing something like "Were headed towards a waterfall, somebody help us!"

And I'm just sitting there thinking "You are going to DIE! Why are you so freakin happy about it?!" It's like they're sing "We're going to die, YIPPIE! We're going to die! A gruesome death is so cheerful. YIPPIE! We are going to DIE!"

What sort of message does that send to the kids at home? "Hey kids, go jump off of a bridge with no bungee cord. It's fun! See how happy those two guys are jumping to their doom? *splat* Yay, I bet that was quite excruciating!"

Yup, that's the one! He was great. His show actually had some PERIL and PLOTS. And it was cool and fantastic.

Wait, you're talking about that Rupert? I loved that show! The episode I remember the most is the one here they were eating pepper or something, and then Father Time stopped time, and they ended up getting really old. Like I said, I loved that show.

And now, I must away, to see if anyone's uploaded the theme song to YouTube.

Basically, whenever I see a kid's show, I want to change the channel. Not because I hate it, but out of awkwardness. A 15-year old watching a children's show is just too weird. Yet, at the same time, there's that deep feeling in myself that it's okay to watch it. Never listen to it, though.

So... I really don't care for them.

Being as I only have one station that will show little-little kid shows (WTTW Chicago), I don't see a lot of crappy shows. One that's still pretty awesome is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_%28TV_series%29. It's not too kiddish, and when I come upon it now, I still get a few kicks outta it.

Actually, I rather like the recent "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!" It's reasonably entertaining, even if it might give you a slight headache. But not as bad as Dora will, trust me.

Dora...ewwww...It creeps me out. When Swiper comes on, it baffles me. He is a terrible theif! "LIEK OMG I'M HIDING BEHIND A BUSH!!! EXCEPT I'M REALLY ONLY BARLEY OBSCURED BY THE BUSH!!! EVERYBODY LOOK AT ME!!!" And then Dora, "Swiper no swiping!" "Awww, man!" And he leaves. It's sad.

It may be somewhat weird that us big-type kids are watching shows meant for little-type kids, but there's not much else to do when you're sick at home. Besides, some of 'em are kinda cute...

And about the weird adult LazyTown fandom--it actually comes from another country, though I forget which, and there it isn't considered just a "kid's show."

As for my opinion on kids' shows, well, I don't watch much television any more. But I used to watch Playhouse Disney sometimes. I don't think there was anything on there I could say I truly hated. I can't stand Barney, though. As a kidlet, I loved Barney, but hated Baby Bop, or at least the one episode where she cries and adamantly refuses to share her yellow blankie. Also, I didn't understand why the other kids in my second- or third- grade class thought I was weird for still watching and liking Sesame Street. (I'd probably still like it today, but not nearly as much as it did when it kinda had a plot and was lacking a long segment at the end starring Elmo. )

I think Barney's the only kids' show that I've ever actually seen that I can truly say I can't stand. I've seen Dora, and that's tolerable. I don't like it enough to be offended by Ian making fun of it, though.

Speaking of Dora, I will now quote one of the awesomest guys not on this forum concerning his opinion on the show.

I have always loved Arthur. I honestly think that it shouldn't be classified as a kids' show. Aside from having, like, fur, the characters all have realistic, believable personalities that you can really relate to. There's a dyslexic moose, a blind rabbit, and a cat with nocturnal enuresis. Buster's parents are divorced, and Sue Ellen's dad is a diplomat. Arthur even has a pen pal in Istanbul*! And... uh... Francine is Jewish. I mean, who would have thought that a show about an aardvark could be so, I dunno, open?

PBS, apparently. But then again, PBS has actually been pretty good with kid's shows, aside from letting Barney and Teletubbies and Boobah slip into the linup. But Sagwa is cool, and Arthur, and other neat stuff like that.

Agree'd. It's more of an all-age show with diversity. The jokes are pretty well thought out, too, considering it's a kid show.

I saw Backyardigans once. It's sorta okay. Still pretty dumb, but at least it's somewhat believable and actually has a bit of comedy in it.

And Dora is definitely shows a lot of mankind's worst: stupidity. Who here in their right minds would come up with a show that dumb? No one! Only people in their wrong minds would!

One thing that really gets me about theat show is how Dora apparently needs help from everyone. She's the laziest kidlet show character ever made. Even worse is how apparently the only way to help her out is by doing whatever she's trying to do. It could go a little something like this:

Dora (doing her usual screaming): OH NO!!!! I THINK I NEED TO TIP-TOE PAST THAT CUTE-AND-CUDDLY-LOOKING DRAGON THAT COULD REALLY KILL ME WITH IT'S SPAGHETTI-EATING WRATH!!!! COULD YOU HELP ME TIP-TOE BY DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AND LOOKING LIKE A TOTAL MORON, JUST LIKE ME?!?!?!?!

Me: No. Hey! Could you help me mute your crappy show? All you have to do is reach out of that TV and press the mute button. C'mon, I need moral support! It's physically impossible for me to do it unless I have you along with billions of unfortunate kidlets doing the exact same thing!

Dora (still screaming): THAT'S GREAT!!! [She starts tip-toeing] TIP-TOE!! TIP-TOE!! TIP-TOE!! TIP-TOE!! TIP-TOE!! TIP-TOE!! TIP-TOE!!TIP-TOE!! TIP-TOE!! [She stops tip-toeing] WOW!!!!!! YOU WERE SUCH A HELP!!!!!!!!

Me: WHY DO YOU KEEP SHOUTING?!?!?!?!?!?

But instead of watching this kind of stuff...shouldn't we be outside or with friends or something? At least studying or housework? People my age and above defiently don't have all that much free time...why waste it on kid's shows?
