Perhaps Strong is their surname (what the Western Hemisphere usually calls a last name) and Mad, Bad, and Sad are their given names (usually called first name). There are many cultures, for example Japanese, that put names in this order (Ichiro Suzuki is known as Suzuki Ichiro in Japan).

If that were true, the correct way to formally address Strong Bad would be Mr. Strong, not Mr. Bad.

This is supported by the fact that they are called the Brothers Strong, just like Mike and Matt Chapman are known as the Brothers Chaps.

Yea, but they called :sb: Mr. Bad i think in one opf the cartoons... and i've never heard them called "the brothers strong". and "TBC" are call matt chapman and mike chapman, not chapman matt and chapman mike. maybe they did base it loosly on that though. i never knew that.

Well, sometimes people are refeed to as "Mr. John Smith", and just because a sender calld him Mr. Bad doesn't mean that that's actually what he is called.

These boards don't use HTML. They use BBCode. That's your problem, man.

You're welcome.

Yeah, use the top row that ImageShack gives you, not the third one.

Oh, and being on subject, it's just one of those things about the H*R universe that can't be explained, OK?

That's about as good an answer as there is on this subject. +1

At least they're not named in the same ridiculous vein as, say, the Berenstain Bears. Did they expect us to believe that the father went through his entire childhood with the name of Papa Bear?

are you joking? of course his name was papa bear. how unresistable would that be for the young lady bears...dating somebody named "papa bear"...haha...

so i guess we'll never know why they're named the way they are...unless we email TBC...except they wont respond since they're dead and havent posted since 12/5
