That got me thinking... what do you think the wiki and forum will be like in two years? (If they're still around) I think we'll have a lot more users, but a few older users will fade away. TBC will have made a short appearance, though people will be skeptical to whether or nnot it's them. The forum will have some new color schemes, and someone will invent the rotating location. (Which doesn't sound too hard, actually...) New emoticons will be added, including Senor Cardgage*, Marshie, and the CowCopter (I forget his name(And yes, I know we have a wiki, right, I just don't feel like looking it up)) YGSUSF will return, new and improved, and the Word association game will still be going strong however, coming close to auto-pruning at one point. JoeyDay's avatar will still be the same, as with his location, and Ian will finally aquire a nickname that sticks.

So, what do you guys think?

I'm, really not sure. Perhaps the boards will have a whole new remodeling or something. And we'd be able to transfer files in posts or something... Yep.

Well, there's one reason I wouldn't wnat them to: mass crowds joining the forum. I still think that they'll make an apperance. Doesn't mean I'd like them to, though (Though it'd be pretty cool)

I question the worth of their coming here to essentially be gawked over by squealing fanboys and fangirls. Fan-interaction seems like a great idea from a fan point of view because it's basically wish-fulfillment, but that doesn't make it so

Yeah, on the Dream Theater forum I used to frequent all the time, their drummer Mike Portnoy (who's pretty much the spokesperson for the band and probably their most important member creatively) used to and probably still does post there on a semi-regular basis, and while it was really cool to have that fan interaction aspect, it really led to a lot of tension at times to the point where it was a pain for both the mods and MP himself. I'd imagine TBC posting here would be at least 10 times worse than that, since they obviously play a much bigger role in H*R's creation (all of it, obviously) than MP does with DT, and the fanbase here (no offense) is a lot younger and less mature, which could lead to... oy... I don't want to think about it. :p

But I still think they'll make an appearance, in some way or another.

I wouldn't be surpirsed if they did come here, wether registered or a guest. But in two years, it's near impossible to predict what will happen.

Hence Strong Bad's (so far) incorrect predictions.

I remember at a South Park forum I go to, the show's creator's visited the chat room once. Everyone who joined the chat was devoiced so that only the mods and the creators could talk. You had to email the mods your questions before hand, and they'd ask them for you. That way, there wasn't thousands of people asking questions all at once. And only intelligent questions were picked to be asked, nothing like "Will you come marry me?" or anything like that. Maybe TBC could try something like that here.

But Dormar's right. There's no way to predict what'll happen in two years. I mean, even a couple of months ago, did you expect that the Forum would be hosted on H*Rules? I think not.

I remember that. This would be a good Idea to rip off if TBC did stop by. It worked really well.

Or that Jesty and Dark Grapefruit would become mods?

Two years in the future is hard to think of in this Wiki and Forum. I'll say the following things:

-The server will be huge and the cost of monthly bandwith will increase to about $800.

-Many regulars(including me) will grow tired of the forum a little and post less.

-Spamming will increase and there will be about 10,000 members.

-The Wiki and Forum will always run slow due to bandwith issues and JoeyDay will be trying to find another host for the Forum.

-There will be over four new emoticons.

-There will be new background colors in the forum.

-The forum will have my page selector box idea due to the increasing amount of pages in both sections of forums and threads themselves.

-Auto-Prunning will be turned on for Arts&Crafts, Forum Games, and Off-Subject Discussion(I'm praying it won't).

-There will be an auto-lock function installed for old threads.

-A new section in the forum itself?

-At least two more moderators will be made and a moderator may possibly quit?

I just had an idea. What if we used this thread like the Time Capsule one a few months ago and stuck it into the Spam Vault or locked it. Then, in two years, we unlock it and see what everything's like?

Just a quick thought.

Well, I can only say one thing that is certain to happen in the next two years.

Ace will reach 200,000 posts.
:p

Ha, at the rate Ace is going now, that would actually take him only 32 years, which in itself is still insane. It would take ramrod 41 years, and he's over 2000 posts ahead. The rest of us would be dead by the time we reached that milestone. I don't know how the heck some of you people maintain that high a posts a day average. :p

I dont think that this forunm is going to grow at the rate you guys are describing, but that doesn't matter, it is still going to grow pretty big. To answer the question about how to keep a high posting average thing is to, well, post...alot...ummm...yeah...

Most of my posts are in the games section...don't count :-(

Yay! 50 of them! It's great when I go on here, and I see people who joined like two weeks ago and already have four times my post count

Yeah. What Dormar said.

Crap... I can't think of anything funny to counter that....

I think everything will be pretty much the same. Maybe one more subforum and almost everything will have autopuning enabled. No new color schemes that's for sure, and definitely no new emoticons. There'll be TONS of new members, at least 10,000, but just about the same amount of active ones. Active people will leave, especially the older ones around here as they get lives and simply not have enough time. There'll be a few new mods of course, as some of the current ones fall into that category. As far as a TBC appearance goes, the wiki will eventually work up the nerve to ask them for an interview, (My money's on Thunderbird to be the interviewer and for that I will always envy/despise him for.) but there's little chance of them actually posting here. (And revealing themselves anyway. I'm quite partial to the "Mike's really Its Dot Com" theory.) I'm not sure if this will all come true or if I'm completely wrong, but there's one thing I'm sure of. In two years, absolutely no one will actually talk about the wiki on here.

Sadly enough, I can see that happening. It seems thgat this forum's growing a name for itself and less and less people come here because of the Wiki.

Did you just post the identical post in two threads? O.o

In two years, I can fully expect the forum population to have tripled, the forum and the wiki to have broken up (there's already speculation!), and the admins to have developed a first class.. okay, DELETED!

Probably. I mean, with all the times I post, it gets kinda hard to remember stuff. That, and I just have no clue what I'm doing.
