The wiki will be moving to a new server tonight. This shouldn't affect the forum, since it's now hosted at homestarrules.com, but I thought I should make everyone aware of the move so we have some time to prepare.

If all goes as planned, I'll be locking down the wiki no sooner than 1 hour from now and no later than 4 hours from now. It will remain accessible for viewing, but editing will be disabled for up to 24 hours.

So, will it take any time to move this forum to the new server (if that's even going to happen)?

Well, it's good that we're finally switching servers. We won't have any more 509's, hopefully.

You should probably put the notice up on the fanstuff wiki, too, if you're moving it.

Two words: Bandwidth problems.

JoeyDay said that this server change should eliminate all 509's.

We haven't had a lot of those lately.

Hmm, wiki viewable but not editable for an entire day... sounds like a good excuse for a troll rampage just before it gets locked down...

Perhaps you should lock it down early and give the sysops a change to comb Recent Changes, before starting the transfer?

Oh, and Shopiom:
The wiki was 509'd for a good week or so at the end of July. During August the forum was transferred to another server so the bandwidth requirements would be less, but it still went 509 for a couple of days at the end of the month. And the wiki is only growing, so the bandwidth needs will only increase.

False alarm. I can't raise Cory on Instant Messenger, so the move will have to wait until tomorrow. I'll keep you posted here and on the wiki site notice.

EDIT: I was able to reach Cory a few minutes later, so the migration began as scheduled.

Joey said Goleman Networks gave the site more bandwidth last month since we were about to swtich anyways.

That's great. I'm glad that the Wiki was able to find a solution to the bandwith problems. I was getting sick of the 509 at the end of every month. The Wiki's coming back sometime late tonight, am I correct?

Tomorrow, I think.

Yes, I noticed this, too. Many, many combolations are in order, but I don't think this is the proper thread in which to do that. But still, here's a "hip hip hooray!" from me. :ehsteve:

Glad we're finally moving, but I miss editing. At least we should be done by tommorow. For some reason I can't get over the BSWiki being gone. It's not related to anything so I wonder why I just mentioned that.

Prob for the same reason why the wiki would get 509'd while the fanstuff would remain up.

well, we survived the migration, unfortunatley the thousands of other migrants were lost to the torring winds and rain through the OdOmvardian Sea. now we have made it to a new server.......... they deserve a cookie.

Oh, and in case no one noticed, last night we moved the forum back home to live with the wiki. Special thanks goes to Simon and the crew over at homestarrules.com for graciously providing hosting over the last few months.

Well, that's definately a good thing. I'm glad we're all back and on a new server.

Yeah, I noticed. And, we should definitely thank Simon for letting us over.

But, it's feels real good to be on a new server.

I'm glad to hear everyone is loving this new server. I agree, it is very nice.

Oh, and by the way, it costs us $718.58 per quarter.

Donations are always welcome.

Thank you.

Dag, yo.

I like the server, and would donate in a second...if only I was a little older...

I would donate too. But I have no money. But hopefully, when I get a second job, I'll be able to donate to this fine cause.
