Have you ever heard the theme song to the OC? It's short and silly, with nothing to it really. My father always sings it like a surfer from Malibu when it comes on. It makes me think of Homestar trying to sing it. But seriously . . . how funny would it be to hear the Homestar sing the theme song to the OC?

I've never seen The O.C., but I know the "theme song" very well because it's the first track on Phantom Planet's excellent 2002 album The Guest. "California" is neither short (at 3:14--according to iTunes--it's average) nor silly. I don't know which part of the song they play on the show, though I suspect it's a very short, poppy selection, which is a shame.

Like I said it's a fantastic album, and I'm very happy to have owned it long before this TV show came along, and if you enjoy the song you should really purchase it.
