This isn't a Homestar sighting as much of a coincindence, so I posted it here as opposed to the sightings page.

On the late PBS series "Cooking Under Fire", whenever someone is kicked out of the competition, they are 86'D, with the 'D from Trogdor and Teen Girl Squad.

Pure coincindence in my oppinion. 'D has become fairly common. And how else were they to spell 86'D? Eighty-sixed?

It's a possible referencem, but a more probable conincedence. good show though, I watched the finale yesterday.

Where I work (Chili's), we sometimes run out of a certain item, and our manager has to go into the computer system and fix it so that no one can ring in (sell) one of those unavailable items. They're called "86'd items" on the compy. So, in other words, it's pure coincidence.

A lot of people have ideas where 86'd comes from, and it doesn't seem that any agree..
One thing's for sure. It's been around longer than H*R.. Not a reference. Nope. Thanks for playing, Johnny show them their parting gifts!

Yeah, it's definitely a common term. Not everything can be a reference to H*R - TBC make billions of pop culture references from other places, so it ends up that only the really weird completely invented words and phrases on the site can be true H*R references. As much as we want to believe it, they didn't invent the 'D thing we use all the time. ;)

You know, it's even possible that they came up with the idea BECAUSE of the pre-existence of "86'd".

No, I'm pretty sure that's just Strong Bad trying to make verbs out of words that are cleary nouns.

A bit off topic, but I went to the Hell's Kitchen site, and on each of the eliminated contestants, there is a "86'D!" posted over their pictures in the bios. Just another sighting of 86'D.
