The first time my father walked in and saw that I was watching a SB email, he asked if it was supposed to be an impersonation of the next to last Canadian Prime Minister, Jean Chretien. (Which for those of you who don't know who that is....let's just say SB is nothing like him. In any way.)

I think I'm adopted.

I show my dad some SBmails from time to time, and he thinks they're pretty funny. My mom adores the Puppet Stuff. And my sister just watches TGS and a few SBmails. Everybody, everybody!

My parents know I'm obsessed with H*R, with me watching the dvds all the time.

My dad loves Homestar. He laughs at anything he says, even if it's not funny. He just thinks his voice is funny. And he's always saying "Those things are bad for you." in a really-really-totally-not-even-remotely-sounding like Homestar voice.

Ooh. Story time!! Er...Yesterday was his birthday and I made him a card on the computer that has Homestar and the Swiss cake rolls small at the bottom with "Ow! Those things are bad for you." And earlier I'd ridden my bike to the store with my friend. And bought some Swiss cake rolls because I've been craving them ever since I joined the forum. My mom said I should put candles in them, like a cake or whatever, so I said ok. When she put it down in front of him, first words he says are "Those things are bad for you." Jeez. Then he opened the card. Huh. What a stupid coincidence. Magazine. Yes. No idea why I felt I needed to share that with y'all.

My mom likes H*R, thinks they're funny. She loves the "Crying" email, especially Homestar's rolling on the ground going on about how he doesn't know what he's "doing with his life". And she cracks up whenever I say "Fork it over." She likes Army too. Specially the Mrs. Bennedetto easter egg.

My parents are tolerant of my H*R obsession, and got me the SBEmail DVD for Christmas, but they don't know a whole lot from the site, especially not beyond Strong Bad. When my brother first introduced me to it, we all watched several of the older E-mails together that are now the introductory staples I've referred to 20,000 times (Guitar, Techno, Invisibility, etc.)

I guess my dad liked it and at some points was really cracking up (because, like me, he's very easily amused), though of course, my mom thought it was weird. The one E-mail I showed everyone in my house when it came out was Crazy Cartoon, and that was generally very well-liked. I think I'm really about due for a couple DVD watching parties among both everyone in my house and my circle of friends...

I'm still disappointed my sister likely won't ever join the 14 year old club around here, though. She thinks H*R's pretty dumb and didn't find TGS even remotely funny. Doh. :(

Well, let's see...

My Dad likes it a bit. He watches the DVDs with me sometimes and thinks it's funny.

My Mum despises computers and anything to do with them, and she saw a bit of a Strong Bad email, didn't get it, and just left without warning halfway through.

My Mum's boyfriend watched ten seconds of Where's The Cheat?, asked me how long it was, I told him, and he laughed and ran away.

My Dad's girlfriend hasn't seen much of it.

And my brother likes to pretend he hates everything I like. He loves Marzipan and Homestar, ESPECIALLY the puppet stuff, and he finds the cartoons funny. But he pretends to hate them. He does the same thing with Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends and Kids Next Door.

My Mom doesn't really care about me watching Homestar anymore. I even got a The Cheat T-shirt and an Everybody Everybody Poster for my birthday. I remember when my sister and I first found the site and we spent about 2 hours watching old sbemails and navigating the site. My parents look at us all weird when we recite issues of Teen Girl Squad. My dad thinks japanese cartoon is funny, but he hasn't seen much else, and he always tries to imitate the stinkoman voice and says, "Challenge!"

Unfortunately, my parents' thoughts of H*R is what may make me not be a fan anymore, because they'll force me to not be a fan. They think that it's a baby show, like Rugrats, or kids-friendly cartoons. Of course, there will be a time when I show them all the stuff that might convince them that this is not a baby-show. By that, I mean showing them times when "crap" is used, the reference to alcohol, weird dream, and the "sand off your nipples". Maybe those points can convince them to change their minds, but I have to keep them away from bottom 10 with all effort, since there's Nibbles and a baby, strengthening their opinion on H*R.

My parents don't even know what Homestar Runner is, so they have no problem with it.

My parents don't really care about my homestar addiction. They're more worried about my Teen Titans addiction.

It might be wise to show them that, so as to show that the site mocks babyish shows.

Kids book and for kids might work too ;)

(?) Would they prefer you to watch South Park or something? What's wrong with a show being clean?

Hmm... I'm guessing, but maybe they just think that it just isn't intellectually stimulating enough. Maybe they'd change their minds if they saw the site - hey, show them the Cheat Commandos, because that deliberately satirises the marketing strategies of cartoons ("buy all our playsets and toys"), so maybe they'd appreciate that there's some adult social-satire behind that, at least. Or the email "radio" - more fine social commentary. If all else fails, show them the R&P forum - to prove that Homestar fans can think about real-world issues too. ;)

Err... maybe showing them wierd dream or "sand off your nipples" wouldn't be a good idea - those references don't exactly scream maturity.

My parents don't understand the concept of H*R, even though they were witnesses when I bought my shirts and my poster. I think the only way I could get them interested would be to watch the strongbad_email.exe DVD in plain view of everyone.

'Course, I don't have the DVD.

This poses a problem.

You could ask for the DVD. I mean, it wouldn't take that long for it to get there. You only live, like, 5 frikin' seconds away from the Chapses!

True, but I don't got no money-types.

My parents aren't going to buy me a thirty-dollar DVD set in the middle of August just because I asked them too. It usually isn't that simple.

Oh. Well then my only suggestion is to ask for it for Christmas or your birthday.

My mom loves the way Strong Bad picks at the grammar of those who email him; she and I are both proud grammar nazis. She enjoys the humour of the site, and I'm sure she'd watch it with me if she had enough free time. As of now, she's only seen a few sbemails (she liked video games, as she's a fan of old-school games like King's Quest) and a toon or two.

My parents aren't familiar with Homestar Runner, but I don't think they'd care if they knew. They'd probably think it's incredibly dumb, but they'd also be glad that it's not vulgar like some of the other cartoons I enjoy. (See my avatar.)

My parents don't care. I tried showing my mom "Bug in Mouth Desise" the other day. She didn't get it at all.

for some odd reason, my mom calls it StarRunner, with emphasis on the first syllable.

My mom watched Cool Things and A Folky Tale. She laughed a few times, but then later told me it was pretty stupid.

My Dad can't understand any of the characters' voices. In Bug in Mouth, he said he couldn't understand Strong Sad, Strong Bad, Homestar, and Bubs.

Heh. It only take a day or two for HR products to get to my house.

My parents don't watch it, buy my father has heard the CD and sometimes sings "TROGDOR!" or "The Cheat is not Dead" around the house. He also knows some of the characters names.

My mom hasn't seen anything.

I think I showed my dad crazy cartoon when i was new to the site. Obviously, he thought that was weird. My mom has heard of it, but never seen it.

My dad sometimes watches it when he's tired. He really likes SB's voice.
