So, what does everybody think of this forum? |

I like it, but I do plan to make some changes in the near future (most notably a new graphic in the upper left corner). |

Hey Joey, can I help with the forum banner? |

I think this will really help the Wiki become less cluttered, and may even restrict the WikiPoll and WikiChat sections to things that are actually coherent. Of course, I could also be a shameless optimist. I'd suggest you fix the link code, though. Or maybe it's Hotmail's fault, but there was an extra http:// at the beginning of my address, so... yeah. ...And so cannot resist temptation. Yeah, [I k]no[w]! Is it? And now back to the general topic. It looks pretty nice. It's standard-issue forum software, stuff that's cool if you can get the server for it. And have the bandwidth for it. Which evidently you do. I don't know how effective this will be, but it's very possible that people will actually use it. And then we can have forum lurkers and forum activists and so on. But I'd prefer to keep emphasis on the Wiki - that's where I'm putting my money. Well, that's where I'd put it, if I had any money. Also, just a thing that you people might want to think about. People are going to leave comments on the Strong Bad Email and Toon pages whether we want them to or not, but is it worth trying to salvage them and put them here? That's technically what should be done, I think, though bits of my mind are screaming at me for even considering the idea. So maybe I shouldn't have brought it up. But you know what? I'm not going to delete it. I'm going to leave it there, so you can all make your own decisions. Or, y'know, preemptively accept / reject it. What do I know? I'm just another guy. Gone fishing, Jweb Guru |

| Post subject: | buggy... |
there seem to be a few bugs with the forum. whenever you log in, you are greeted with a 'this page cannot be displayed' message. you have to click back twice & hit refresh to make sure you really *are* logged in. you get the same error message if you try to post a reply & you are not logged in. second, i made a quick & dirty logo for the forum in paint. i'll be loading it onto the ftp image server as soon as i recieve my password. |

What kind of rules do you think we should have, Lunar? (I've never set up a forum before, so I have no idea what kind of rules are important.) |

Ah, most excellent. I've got a couple ideas for rules: Limit sig size. No epic poems, no huge images. 200x100 seems good to me, but maybe we could tolerate a bit larger. Similarly, image posting limits. Content should be restricted (no pr0n), of course, but also size, unless the topic happens to be something like "post your big huge pictures!" I'm sure we'll think of more as certain behaviors start to get on our nerves. |

Right, what IJ said, and: 1. No pointless bringing up old posts ("old" being on the second topic page or so) 2. No flaming. "The Cheat is better, you total flaming jerk-idiot!" 3. Be more understandable than Homsar (unless you're imitating him). "LOL U R RItE SB ROOOOOOOOOLZ!" That's all I can think of. |

Hey there. This is Strong Lad, reporting from England(e). As a representative from there, can I just state that I was a respected vet on a forum about Happy Tree Friends, but it was soon overrun by spammers, and flamers. That was unpleasant, and what made it worse was that the admin did very little to help. Lets please let it not happen here, ai'ght? Ai'ght. Anyways, I'd have a thread opened to introduce myself, but that would be a bit cliche, so here it is. I'm a male waiter from England(e), at the end of High School years and going to college the next. I have always been a fan of H*R, since I've seen the introduction page, I've just not been on many forums. This one seems nice, though. I love all these transcripts, and the fanstuff is just hiiiiiiiiiilarious. My favourite character is Homsar, hands down. I've even got a T-shirt of the guy. Anyways, that's me. So, how are you? |

I made a really quick banner for the forum. It's not that great, but even if we don't use it, we really need to get rid of that phpbb banner. yay! logging in worked right today!

The only problem I have with the forum is that it might take emphasis away from the wiki. I don't want this place to become just another Homestarrules. But this way, we can leave the wiki to focus on info, with comments etc. not cluttering it up. |

We don't need a forum though. It's a wiki. Anyone who's anyone can talk about something. |

This organizes the talking. It's nice to have an article be an article and not have six thousand seven hundred eighty-two comments posted below it. |

I agree with StrongstarRunbad. The wiki is a great format for sharing information and original content. Chat, comments and polls belong in a forum, where they are much more organized. |

I just wanted to resurrect this topic to show how far we've come on the forum in a year, and the fact that the forum here could have just been discontinued! Congratulations on your work, guys. |

the homestarrules thing-i agree. Homestarrules is like Satan reincarnated into a H*R fan forum! (IMHO) |

Exactly right. Just to clarify once again: We have the Homestar Runner Wiki over at http://hrwiki.org. And then we have the Homestar Runner Wiki Forum at http://forum.hrwiki.org. The Wiki is the primary website. It is a knowledge base of information about Homestar Runner. This forum is just a companion to facilitate our community. And if you are confused with the dates, the Wiki was created on October 7th, 2003 and the forum was created on May 8th, 2004. |

The HRWiki fourm is great, its the first fourm I keep coming back to. The R & P is my favorite part of the fourm. I must thank the admins JoeyDay, Tom, Stu, and Interruptor Jones for making such a great forum. |
