How to make flash cartoons?

After being inspired by one Mr. Runner I decided to make my own flash toons. Problem is I don't even know where to begin(which is why I'm posting in the first place).

Anybody know how to get flash and some decent tutorials?

P.S. sorry if this inapropriate for this forum. Just help a clueless guy out please.

Thanks for the site McArbys, but my main problem is I don't have flash.
Itryed looking on their website but there was about 20 differnt things and I'm clueless :-S

Anybody recommend a certain version or something?

if thats your main problem, buy it from Adobe. I'm not sure If you can get it without the rest of the Creative Suite, but if you can it is worth it. either way, get a demo first. My uncle made an animation of a guy playing guitar in a demo of flash 5 once.

UPDATE: I checked the Adobe website and The price was £633 POUNDS!!! (or $669 to the most of you).
I can't afford that. Not on a students lifestyle.
Is it possible to get a cheaper used one... or something?

is that for the entire creative suite!?

wow... I didnt even know that.

if it is, look for anything that may possibly be just flash.
if its not, there is not a legal way to get it.

Instead of buying Flash as a standalone product, it's worth the extra money to buy it as part of a suite. Web Standard would be the least expensive option, although Design Premium comes with Illustrator and Photoshop, which I couldn't live without. There are discounts for students for certain products, so you might see whether you could take advantage of anything like that.

I can't believe the retail price is almost as many British pounds as it is American dollars. Isn't the pound supposed to be worth like $2 these days?

It definitely used to be, but it's getting less and less all the time. My dad said 25p used to be nicknamed a dollar because a pund was worth $4 at the time.

When I was in England, I noticed things were the same amount in pounds as I would expect to pay in dollars. So if, say, a Big Mac meal costs $5 in the States, it costs £5 in the UK. In other words, things are twice as expensive if you are converting between the two currencies. (This was a while ago, and I didn't do an in-depth study, so I don't know how well this generalization holds up.)

Well like Octan said, if you count as a student in the UK. You can get flash and a whole bunch of Macromedia software for a lot cheaper. Around £75. I would download the trial version because making flash cartoons is quite hard =). Hope this helps. Also the currency has changed a fair bit, you can check it here: http://www.xe.com/ucc/

Its about 60p for a dollar.
