I was looking at Engrish.com and found this pictureImage

So I wonder, did the Chaps steal this or did it get stolen from them?

I remember when the Engrish.com one came out. HR's version definitely came first. Of course, that doesn't mean Engrish stole from them, but rather that someone in Austria stole their image, which was in turn submitted to Engrish.com.

Do you necessarily know that the piece of paper itself was taken from H*R? It obviously didn't appear on Engrish.com for a long time, but maybe whatever book/sign that paper is from before H*R, and the Chaps used it.

Maybe, but that doesn't really seem like something TBC would do. It's likely that somebody took the image from them. I have a feeling that that isn't even from a battery container at all. It looks like some fake thing a Homestar Runner fan would make.

I guess it's possible that the warning label(?) had been around for years without Engrish.com or any other anglophone noticing it, I don't think you can really prove that one way or the other, but what about the "eating one battery" picture? It's a very similar drawing so they're probably from the same original source, but it makes even less sense as a warning label(?) than the "eating five batteries" picture. I guess both TBC and the Austrian company could have taken the image from some third source, but outright copying an image like that doesn't seem like TBC's style.

FAKEEDIT: I thought this discussion looked familiar, and found it in the talk page for that email. Looks like the consensus is that the diagram in "english paper" was first, since the image is something called a vector graphic and it's really hard to make one of those from a normal image. I personally don't know anything about it, but it sounds like they know what they're talking about.
