I JUST GOT the H*R thing. I just read it as "HR" before, not getting that the asterisk was supposed to be read as "star". Yeeeaah...

It took me a while too, but I realised a few weeks ago.

For whatever it's worth, even when it's written as H*R, I tend to hear it as "aitch-are", not "aitch-star-are".

I know. I just tend to hear it in my mind the shorter way.

Yeah, me too. The sounds in aitch-star-arr kind of run together.

Aitch. What a complicated phoneme. Aych. Aeich. "Eh"ch. What comes after A-itch and before C-it... nevermind.
But yeah. H-Star-R. Always has been. Always will be. It maintains the rythym of saying "Homestar Runner" without using so many vowels.

Interestingly enough, you'll find some folks from England call it "haitch" instead. I've heard some of my British colleagues referring to haitch-ess-bee-see countless times, though as yet I've not heard anyone say "haitch-star-are".

That's all to do with regional accents, so the chances are you just haven't met a H*R fan from the right part of england.
I, as an english person, don't really pronounce Rs that follow vowels, so I normally just think of it as aitch-stah-h, and not distinguishing between the two syllables.

And I can't pronounce it in one piece. I would either have to say "aitch-stah-arr" or "aitch-sta-rar", because if I try to say it normally, I swallow the second a and r. (It's probably because of my dialect, I find it hard to pronounce certain combinations of letters in German as well.)

I know dumber things. I went two years thinking Big Toons, not Strong Bad Emails, were the central feature of homestarrunner.com.

At least that makes sense. "Big Toons = big feature". And they were the main feature for a while.

Big Toons originally were the main feature, and now they are again, due to the fact that there won't be any sbemails anymore.

That's not true. Big Toons will never be the main feature. A "Big Toon" only means that the toons in that category are considerably longer than others. There are more toons released each year in other categories, such as "Shorts" and "Holiday Toons".

(?) So far we've had only two Big Toons, but twice as many Shorts and three New Stuff toons. This reminds me of the time Meaty85203 said Strong Sad was a Dangeresque Star in every movie, despite the fact he only has one scene in Dangeresque, Too?, no lines in This Time, It's Not Dangeresque 1, and the end credits of Dangeresque, Too? and The Criminal Projective don't call him by his real name.

Okay, re-phrasing time.

Shorts are the main feature in a sense that there are WAY more of them than big toons. However, Big Toons are the main event in the sense that they are spaced out between releases. Personally, I normally look out for the next Big Toon or Holiday Toon, and not so much the shorts. I suppose it can depend on how you look at it.
